Wade<\/a> \u2014 the 1973 opinion which argued that the Constitution guarantees the right to an <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/abortion\">abortion<\/a> \u2014 several businesses announced that they would bankroll employees\u2019 travel to seek abortions in other states. In a news segment with <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/cnn\">CNN<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/diversity\">diversity<\/a> czar of <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/yelp\">Yelp<\/a> explained her company\u2019s reasoning for a similar policy.<\/p>\n<p>The online rating platform began offering workers and their dependents financial help for abortion-related travel in April, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/yelp-joins-apple-citigroup-other-companies-covering-travel-costs-for-abortions-11649789862?mod=article_inline\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>. In reaction to last week\u2019s ruling, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Yelp\/status\/1540400774345359361?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">said<\/a> that business leaders must speak out \u201cagainst the wave of abortion bans that will be triggered as a result of this decision\u201d and called on lawmakers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-right-to-an-abortion-is-sacred-democratic-lawmakers-renew-calls-to-codify-roe\">codify Roe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, Yelp Chief Diversity Officer Miriam Warren told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/business\/2022\/06\/27\/companies-yelp-abortion-access-benefits-economy-yurkevich-dnt-nr-vpx.cnn\">CNN<\/a>, \u201cFor any employer that cares about issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, to stay silent on such an issue is really just not okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN correspondent Vanessa Yurkevich asked Warren, \u201cDo you think it\u2019s both an asset for retention of employees, then also an asset for attracting new employees to the company?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s both,\u201d she responded. \u201cIt has really been a wonderful recruiting tool in terms of prospective employees saying, \u2018I want to work at a company that is out there and loud about what they believe in, and what they care about.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even beyond the human rights implications of Yelp\u2019s policy, an exclusive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/poll-by-two-to-one-margin-investors-reject-woke-companies-pushing-political-causes\">Daily Wire poll conducted by Echelon Insights<\/a> showed last month that most Americans want companies they invest in to refrain from pushing social agendas. While 29% of respondents agreed it is a \u201cgood thing\u201d for companies to leverage their power for political ends supported by executives, 58% \u2014 twice as many \u2014 said it is a \u201cbad thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, many of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/here-are-the-woke-businesses-vowing-to-cover-travel-costs-for-employees-abortion-tourism\">America\u2019s leading corporations<\/a> denounced the Supreme Court\u2019s reversal of Roe \u2014 which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/united-states-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-leaves-abortion-restrictions-to-states\">occurred<\/a> through the Court\u2019s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization \u2014 and clarified their support of employees\u2019 interstate travel to obtain abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur company remains committed to removing barriers and providing comprehensive access to quality and affordable care for all of our employees, cast members and their families, including family planning and reproductive care, no matter where they live,\u201d Disney executives Paul Richardson and Pascale Thomas said in a memo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have processes in place so that an employee who may be unable to access care in one location has affordable coverage for receiving similar levels of care in another location,\u201d the executives continued. \u201cThis travel benefit covers medical situations related to cancer treatments, transplants, rare disease treatment and family planning (including pregnancy-related decisions).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn response to today\u2019s ruling, we are announcing that if a state one of our teammates lives in restricts access to abortion, DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods will provide up to $4,000 in travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where that care is legally available,\u201d DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods CEO Lauren Hobart said. \u201cThis benefit will be provided to any teammate, spouse or dependent enrolled in our medical plan, along with one support person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The wave of businesses announcing they would reimburse for abortion-related travel expenses began in May after Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade-decision-in-draft-of-majority-opinion-report-says\">published<\/a> Justice Samuel Alito\u2019s draft Dobbs opinion. Companies such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/levis-will-reimburse-some-employees-for-abortion-related-travel-expenses\">Levi Strauss<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/subsidizing-the-abortion-industry-amazon-to-fund-abortion-tourism-for-its-employees\">Amazon<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/investment-bank-will-pay-travel-expenses-so-employees-can-get-abortions-more-easily\">Citigroup<\/a> released such policies the days after the leak.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v.
