Some draped themselves in Transgender Pride flags, wore platform boots, and were accompanied by a boom box blasting dance music.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">TRANS RIGHTS: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amazon?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@amazon<\/a> workers representing activist group within company called \u201cNo Hate At Amazon\u201d at Seattle Pride. A spokesperson at the march declined an interview with Daily Wire and pointed me to their website for a full list of their demands and complaints about Amazon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nohateatamazon.com\">No Hate at Amazon<\/a> accuses the company of allegedly \u201cspreading a culture of hatred through the sale of transphobic books, promoting and profiting off content that advocates for the abuse of transgender children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, some Amazon employees in Seattle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amazon-employees-disrupt-pride-ceremony-with-die-in-protest-over-matt-walshs-johnny-the-walrus-other-anti-trans-books\">staged a protest<\/a> at the company\u2019s Pride Flag raising ceremony due to their frustration over the continued sale of \u201ctransphobic\u201d books,\u00a0including Abigail Shrier\u2019s \u201cIrreversible Damage\u201d and\u00a0\u201cJohnny the Walrus\u201d by The Daily Wire\u2019s Matt Walsh.<\/p>\n<p>The group further called the Pride Flag raising ceremony a \u201cPR stunt\u201d that was \u201cblatant rainbow-washing\u201d all while the retailer continued to sell \u201ccontent that aids and encourages the psychological abuse of transgender children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-06-25\/amazon-employees-want-amazon-to-ban-books-they-deem-anti-transgender\">stopped selling<\/a> the book \u201cWhen Harry Became Sally\u201d in March 2021 because it described \u201cLGBTQ+ identity as a mental illness,\u201d according to WaPo.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg reports so far, more than 600 employees have signed the petition to have the content removed and about 20 workers have quit the company due to the sale of titles they say misrepresent what it means to be transgender. Several other transgender employees are also planning to quit\u00a0after they complete certain gender-affirming treatments, a complex and personal process\u00a0that can take years and could be disrupted by switching jobs and insurance plans, said the person, who requested anonymity for fear of\u00a0retaliation.<\/p>\n<p>Several months ago,\u00a0Seattle Pride organizers also dropped Amazon as a corporate sponsor, citing its support of lawmakers and organizations that support anti-LGBTQ legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe respect that many people care deeply about this topic, and we remain committed to providing an inclusive work environment for all of our 1.6 million employees,\u201d\u00a0Amazon spokesperson Maggie Sivon said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg.\u00a0 \u201cAs a company, we believe strongly in diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a bookseller, we\u2019ve chosen to offer a very broad range of viewpoints, including books that conflict with our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/about-us\/our-positions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/about-us\/our-positions&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1656380053858000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0g2VW8LpY8Ulszfv4E-aff\">company\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0stated positions.\u00a0We believe that it\u2019s possible to do both\u2014to offer a broad range of viewpoints in our bookstore, and to stand behind our values as a company.
