That tells you all you need to know about Pelosi,\u201d @LionHearted76 tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Flores was <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3531963-gop-rep-mayra-flores-sworn-in-after-flipping-house-seat-in-special-election\/\">sworn in<\/a> on Tuesday, June 21st, after her historic win in Texas\u2019 34th Congressional District. Her newly-acquired seat, which has traditionally been considered a safe district for Democrats, was vacated when former Congressman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/03\/31\/filemon-vela-resignation\/\">Filemon Vela<\/a> (D-TX) resigned last March to take a job with Akin Gump \u2014 a lobbying and law firm.<\/p>\n<p>Flores will serve the remainder of Vela\u2019s term \u2014 and will have to remain on campaign footing, because she will have to defend the seat again in November\u2019s midterm election.<\/p>\n<p>Her victory in the June 15th special election made Flores the first Mexican-born Congresswoman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.
