Wade.<\/p>\n<p>Republican New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith, a leading voice in the congressional pro-life movement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/24\/politics\/republican-reaction-abortion-congress\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told CNN<\/a> he is planning to lower his initial 20-week ban to 15 weeks within his proposed, \u201cThe Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.\u201d The bill previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2013\/06\/12\/house-committee-approves-20-week-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">passed<\/a> in the House in 2013 when Republicans controlled the chamber, and many are confident it could pass if Republicans regain control of the House and Senate in November.<\/p>\n<div data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_E3A37C55-C606-F13A-02A2-972069AC3D07\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_6\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re working on something along those lines,\u201d Smith said when asked about a nationwide abortion ban. \u201cI have the \u2018Pain Capable\u2019 at 20 weeks. We\u2019re going to lower it to 15. There are all kinds of ideas there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The representative admitted the bill is highly unlikely to pass the Senate filibuster, CNN reported.<\/p>\n<p>The bill passed the Republican-controlled House a second time in 2015, then <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/10\/17\/congressman-to-mcconnell-end-the-filibuster-and-save-babies-or-find-a-new-job-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">again<\/a> in 2017.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Every unborn child is precious, extraordinary, and worthy of protection, and the Supreme Court\u2019s decision in Dobbs v. Other supporters include Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Jim Banks of Indiana, and Mike Johnson of Louisiana. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/24\/desantis-promises-to-expand-pro-life-protections-after-roe-overturn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: DeSantis Promises To Expand \u2018Pro-Life Protections\u2019 After Roe Overturn)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Republican Rep. Ann Wagner expressed confidence that her \u201cBorn-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,\u201d which requires medical professionals to provide care to an infant surviving abortion, will pass, CNN reported. The bill, also introduced in the Senate by Republican Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, has been stalled but could revive due to the Court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>A stricter ban that could advance after Republicans regain control of the House and Senate is the federal Heartbeat Bill, which intends to ban abortion procedures after a fetal heartbeat is detected at 6 weeks gestation, CNN reported. The bill has the support of over 100 House Republicans and has already been passed in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/22\/supreme-court-hear-case-against-texas-abortion-law-heartbeat-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas.<\/a> Oklahoma <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/12\/oklahoma-kevin-stitt-ban-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">passed<\/a> legislation in April banning all abortions except in the case of a medical emergency for the mother.<\/p>\n<p>The Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/24\/roe-v-wade-overturned-supreme-court-dobbs-v-jackson-womens-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ruled<\/a> in the case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization, that the Constitution protects Mississippi\u2019s right to pass a 15-week abortion ban that directly challenged Roe v. Wade, which prohibited states from banning the procedure until fetal viability at 24 weeks. Justice Samuel Alito, who authored the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/21pdf\/19-1392_6j37.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">majority opinion<\/a>, wrote that Roe was \u201cegregiously wrong from the start.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled.
