Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization, which has the effect of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/planned-parenthood-reacts-to-scotus-abortion-ruling\">overturning<\/a> <em>Roe v. Wade,\u00a0<\/em>the landmark 1973 abortion case that legalized abortion nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis means states are now free to regulate abortion. They are now free to protect unborn human life. That is what this decision means,\u201d Shapiro said.\u00a0\u201cIt means that hundreds of thousands of children who would have been killed in the womb will now live. This is a victory for human life. This is a victory for all human beings who are made in the image of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shapiro also warned listeners to prepare for a \u201cweekend of rage\u201d since \u201cpresumably the Left is now going to lose its ever-loving mind,\u201d noting the recent violent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fbi-investigating-attacks-on-pro-life-centers-organizations\">attacks<\/a> on pro-life clinics and churches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s going to be a hue and cry across the land where we are told that women everywhere are going to be suffering from back-alley abortions and all the rest,\u201d Shapiro said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of the court\u2019s job is to say, \u2018this is not in our purview cause it ain\u2019t in the Constitution,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cBut according to the Left, everything is in the court\u2019s purview so long as the Left has its own policy prerogatives greenlit by the Supreme Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shapiro added that, \u201cfrom a moral point of view, I would love to see the pro-life movement win across the board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut on a constitutional level, the resolution of this constitutional issue, by getting rid of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and delegating it back to the states, which is where it originally was placed, that is the proper constitutional response to this, barring the reinterpretation of the 14th Amendment to protect unborn human life, which for this court would have been a stretch,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>In a lengthy 147-page decision, five justices agreed to overturn <em>Roe<\/em>, with Justice Samuel Alito writing the majority opinion. Chief Justice John Roberts agreed to uphold the Mississippi abortion ban, but he did not believe the court should overturn <em>Roe<\/em>. The court\u2019s three liberal justices, Elena Kagan, Stephen Breyer, and Sonya Sotomayor dissented.<\/p>\n<p>The decision also overturned another landmark abortion case,\u00a0<em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>, which in 1992 doubled down on the right to abortion access established by <em>Roe.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Justices Clarence Thomas and\u00a0Brett Kavanaugh penned their own concurring opinions.\u00a0Thomas\u2019 opinion was \u201cspectacular\u201d and \u201cmore correct than the actual majority opinion,\u201d Shapiro said.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/clarence-thomas-creates-shockwaves-for-stating-next-error-that-supreme-court-should-correct\">agreed<\/a>\u00a0with the majority in his concurring opinion that\u00a0there is no constitutional right to abortion. He also wrote that \u201cin future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court\u2019s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell.\u201d\u00a0The cases mentioned by Thomas deal with contraception, homosexual sex, and gay marriage, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe majority does not have the actual stones to rule like Justice Thomas, which is sad,\u201d Shapiro said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Roberts also filed his own concurring opinion, but did not vote in favor of the majority opinion on <em>Roe<\/em>.
