Wade<\/a> on Friday, several businesses announced that they would fund employees\u2019 decisions to seek <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/abortion\">abortions<\/a> in other states.<\/p>\n<p>The 1973 opinion \u2014 which argued that the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution protects abortion \u2014 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/united-states-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-leaves-abortion-restrictions-to-states\">overturned<\/a> through the court\u2019s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization. After Justice Samuel Alito\u2019s draft opinion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade-decision-in-draft-of-majority-opinion-report-says\">leaked<\/a> in early May, businesses started announcing that they would pay travel expenses for employees trying to obtain abortions.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, several more companies followed suit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur company remains committed to removing barriers and providing comprehensive access to quality and affordable care for all of our employees, cast members and their families, including family planning and reproductive care, no matter where they live,\u201d executives from entertainment conglomerate Disney said in a memo obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/06\/24\/roe-v-wade-decision-disney-sends-memo-to-employees.html\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Disney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/news\/small-percentage-disney-employees-walkout-protest-florida-lgbtq\/\">employs<\/a> 75,000 people in Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-bans-late-term-abortions-in-florida\">signed<\/a> legislation banning abortions after 15 weeks gestation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have processes in place so that an employee who may be unable to access care in one location has affordable coverage for receiving similar levels of care in another location,\u201d the executives continued. \u201cThis travel benefit covers medical situations related to cancer treatments, transplants, rare disease treatment and family planning (including pregnancy-related decisions).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods CEO Lauren Hobart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6946126055220936705\/\">said<\/a> on Friday that the company is \u201cprepared to ensure that all of our teammates have consistent and safe access to the benefits we provide, regardless of the state in which they live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn response to today\u2019s ruling, we are announcing that if a state one of our teammates lives in restricts access to abortion, DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods will provide up to $4,000 in travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where that care is legally available,\u201d she continued. \u201cThis benefit will be provided to any teammate, spouse or dependent enrolled in our medical plan, along with one support person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a June 1 memo published on Friday by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/06\/24\/jpmorgan-tells-employees-the-bank-will-pay-for-travel-to-states-that-allow-abortion.html\">CNBC<\/a>, investment bank JPMorgan Chase \u2014 which already covered abortions \u2014 revealed that it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/another-high-profile-business-announces-it-will-pay-for-employees-abortion-tourism\">will also pay<\/a> for employees to obtain them out-of-state.<\/p>\n<p>The memo linked to a question-and-answer page asking, \u201cWill you pay for an employee to travel to another state to seek an abortion if their state won\u2019t allow them to get one?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes. Our health care plans have historically covered travel benefits for certain covered services that would require travel,\u201d JPMorgan said. \u201cBeginning in July, we will expand this benefit to include all covered services that can only be obtained far from your home, which would include legal abortion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clothing manufacturer Levi Strauss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/levis-will-reimburse-some-employees-for-abortion-related-travel-expenses\">said<\/a> in early May that \u201cbusiness leaders need to make their voices heard and act to protect the health and well-being of our employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder our current benefits plan, Levi Strauss &#038; Co. employees are eligible for reimbursement for healthcare-related travel expenses for services not available in their home state, including those related to reproductive health care and abortion,\u201d the company said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>After Roe was overturned, Levi Strauss again <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LeviStraussCo\/status\/1540372043392135168\">affirmed<\/a> that it would oppose \u201cany steps to restrict access to the full range of reproductive health care, including abortion\u201d in the name of \u201cgender and racial equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A report released in May by electric carmaker Tesla <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tesla-appears-to-cover-travel-expenses-for-employees-abortion-tourism\">showed<\/a> that the company added \u201ctravel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home state\u201d to its safety net and health insurance offerings last year. Tesla recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-says-tesla-moving-headquarters-from-california-to-texas\">moved its headquarters<\/a> to Texas, and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenPaxtonTX\/status\/1540339215581470723\">announced<\/a> on Friday that \u201cabortion is now illegal\u201d in the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, e-commerce giant Amazon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/subsidizing-the-abortion-industry-amazon-to-fund-abortion-tourism-for-its-employees\">said<\/a> that it would provide as much as $4,000 in travel expenses for employees who want to go out of state to get an abortion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/the-companies-paying-travel-costs-for-abortions-tesla-amazon-citi-on-small-but-growing-list-11651873562\">Companies with similar policies<\/a> include Starbucks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/investment-bank-will-pay-travel-expenses-so-employees-can-get-abortions-more-easily\">Citigroup<\/a>, Yelp, Apple, Match, and Bumble.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Disclosure: The Daily Wire has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/videos\/introducing-dw-kids\">announced<\/a> plans for kids entertainment content.)<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v.
