Wade decision Friday, sending the authority to regulate and restrict abortions back to the states.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of justices upheld Mississippi\u2019s 15-week abortion limit at stake in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/17\/supreme-court-abortion-case-mississippi-roe-wade-dobbs-jackson-womens-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/a>, a case which directly challenged <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/10\/jen-psaki-joe-biden-ultra-maga-abortion-roe-v-wave\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roe\u2019s<\/a> ban on most abortion restrictions before fetal viability. Mississippi\u2019s sole abortion clinic filed a lawsuit against the state\u2019s chief health officer, Thomas Dobbs, alleging the restriction was unconstutional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the<br \/>people and their elected representatives,\u201d the court wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Samuel Alito authored the majority opinion and was joined by Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas and John Roberts.<\/p>\n<p>The Roe precedent made abortions legal nationwide until fetal viability, or the point at which a child is able to survive outside the womb, which is generally determined to occur at around 24 weeks\u2019 gestation. States can now restrict abortions at any point in pregnancy. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/29\/actually-happen-roe-overturned\/\">(RELATED: Here\u2019s What Would Actually Happen If Roe Is Overturned)<\/a><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A draft version of the majority opinion was leaked to Politico and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-abortion-draft-opinion-00029473\">published<\/a> May 3, revealing that the majority of justices had agreed to overturn Roe in a non-binding vote after oral arguments in December.<\/p>\n<p>Following the release of the draft decision, pro-life organizations and crisis pregancy centers were attacked by pro-abortion activists, with some buildings being <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/15\/pro-abortion-arsonists-firebomb-pro-life-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">firebombed<\/a> by Molotov cocktails.
