Wade<\/em><\/a> case that legalized abortion across the America.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-3 decision on Friday followed the early May leak of a draft opinion indicating which way the justices would rule. That leak prompted protesting across the nation, particularly in Washington, D.C. as well as dozens of attacks and vandalism of pro-life organizations, centers, and churches.<\/p>\n<p>Overturning of the landmark 1973 case came in the decision on\u00a0<em>Dobbs v.s. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization,<\/em>\u00a0a challenge to a Mississippi law greatly restricting the federal right to abortion. The leaked draft, substantially the same as Friday\u2019s decision, had already galvanized pro- and anti-abortion foes outside the Supreme Court building and even the homes of conservative justices.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of people gathered at the court Friday, carrying signs and shouting slogans. Police cordoned off the groups on Friday, hoping to avoid violence in the wake of the polarizing decision.<\/p>\n<p>The decision leaves it to states to impose restrictions on abortion. Several are expected to move closer to outright bans, while liberal states are expected to retain or even expand protections for abortion.<\/p>\n<p>On June 8, police arrested 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske in the Washington suburb of Chevy Case, Maryland. A DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22056069\/roskenicholas.pdf\">affidavit details<\/a>\u00a0how Roske allegedly traveled to Kavanaugh\u2019s home armed with weapons and burglary tools with the intent to kill the justice and prevent him from ruling on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/second-amendment\">Second Amendment<\/a>\u00a0and abortion cases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1gzrcga e1ttcx5v0\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/roe-v-wade\">ROE V. WADE\u2019S LONG AND BRUTAL LEGACY<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Roske has been charged with attempted murder of a federal judge, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/department-of-justice\">Department of Justice<\/a>\u00a0confirmed to The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>The California man had found Kavanaugh\u2019s address online, an FBI affidavit said (pro-abortion advocates with a group called Ruth Sent Us had posted the address online, sparking heavy criticism from those who feared for the justices\u2019 safety).<\/p>\n<p>He told authorities that he was upset about the \u201cleak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,\u201d indicating that \u201che believed the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoske stated that he began thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice\u2019s Montgomery County address on the Internet,\u201d the affidavit said. \u201cRoske further indicated that he had purchased the Glock pistol and other items for the purpose of breaking into the Justice\u2019s residence and killing the Justice as well as himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his draft opinion, Justice Samuel Alito had written that\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0and a subsequent case,\u00a0<em>Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>, which upheld\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>, both must be overturned, and the right to allow, deny, or restrict the right to an abortion must reside with states.<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-0\">\u201c<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0was egregiously wrong from the start,\u201d the 98-page opinion states. \u201cWe hold that\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Casey<\/em>\u00a0must be overruled.
