Bruen<\/a><\/em>, SCOTUS ruled that New York\u2019s 1911 law that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/supreme-court-weighs-challenge-to-new-york-states-concealed-weapons-permit-law-11635931800?mod=article_inline\">conditioned<\/a>\u00a0the right to a concealed carry permit on \u201cgood moral character\u201d and \u201cproper cause\u201d was unconstitutional, as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-scotus-strikes-down-new-york-concealed-carry-restrictions-restrictions\/\">The Daily Wire<\/a>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p>Garland scrupulously avoided putting his own name on the criticism. Instead, the Department of Justice released spokeswoman Dena Iverson\u2019s statement as she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-statement-supreme-court-ruling-new-york-state-rifle-pistol-association-inc\">wrote<\/a>, \u201cWe respectfully disagree with the Court\u2019s conclusion that the Second Amendment forbids New York\u2019s reasonable requirement that individuals seeking to carry a concealed handgun must show that they need to do so for self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Political commentator Mike Cernovich called the statement a \u201cdirect threat against the judiciary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">DOJ does not issue statements like these disagreeing with Supreme Court rulings. It doesn\u2019t happen. It has no lawful basis.<\/p>\n<p>This can only be seen as a direct threat against the judiciary by Stasi agents. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JcJMBedpRX\">pic.twitter.com\/JcJMBedpRX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Cernovich (@Cernovich) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Cernovich\/status\/1540143278594486272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 24, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On May 11, Florida GOP senator Marco Rubio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubio.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/2022\/6\/rubio-demands-answers-from-doj-on-danger-to-supreme-court-justices-violence-against-pro-life-organizations\">wrote a letter<\/a> to Biden\u2019s Department of Justice asking them to publicly condemn and investigate the ongoing and unlawful efforts designed to intimidate Supreme Court Justices after the leak of a draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court in\u00a0<em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em>\u00a0<em>Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>\u00a0indicated that the court would overturn the infamous <em>Roe v. Wade <\/em>decision.<\/p>\n<p>Rubio said that Biden\u2019s Department of Justice waited a full month before they responded, replying on the same day a man who allegedly planned to assassinate U.S. Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh was arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Rubio slammed Biden\u2019s DOJ, writing:<\/p>\n<p><em>I conveniently received a response to my letter from DOJ on the same day that an attempted assassination of Justice Kavanaugh was made on June 8, 2022. Violent acts like this should come as no surprise, given that the threats made outside of Justices\u2019 homes were precisely the cause for alarm that we referenced in asking the DOJ to hold these bad actors accountable.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rubio continued:<\/p>\n<p><em>The DOJ must protect the integrity of the Court and protect the rights and freedoms of pro-life organizations. I therefore request answers to the following questions:\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Explain why the DOJ has failed to investigate acts of violence against pro-life groups, including crisis pregnancy centers?<\/em><em>Does the DOJ plan to classify these crimes as acts of domestic terrorism?<\/em><em>Does the DOJ believe that \u201cno one is in danger,\u201d as stated by Speaker Pelosi?<\/em><em>As confirmed at the time by then-White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, is it still President Biden\u2019s position to \u201cencourage\u201d protests \u201coutside of judges\u2019 homes\u201d?<\/em><em>Does the DOJ support swift passage of the\u00a0Supreme Court Policy Parity Act?<\/em><em>Is the DOJ coordinating with DHS and other U.S. Attorney\u2019s offices across the nation to investigate and prosecute criminal acts against pro-life groups?<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a highly politicized move, the Biden administration\u2019s Department of Justice, headed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, criticized the decision by the Supreme Court to invalidate a New York law restricting concealed carry.
