Bruen<\/a><\/em>, SCOTUS ruled that New York\u2019s 1911 law that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/supreme-court-weighs-challenge-to-new-york-states-concealed-weapons-permit-law-11635931800?mod=article_inline\">conditioned<\/a>\u00a0the right to a concealed carry permit on \u201cgood moral character\u201d and \u201cproper cause\u201d was unconstitutional, as <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-scotus-strikes-down-new-york-concealed-carry-restrictions-restrictions\/\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul reacted by snapping, \u201cIt is outrageous that at a moment of national reckoning on gun violence, the Supreme Court has recklessly struck down a New York law that limits those who can carry concealed weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Woods slammed Hochul on Thursday night, tweeting, \u201cShe can have eight armed guards. On your own\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wHYQnzzs6R\">pic.twitter.com\/wHYQnzzs6R<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealJamesWoods\/status\/1540174436346671106?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 24, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/supreme-court-strikes-down-new-york-law-on-concealed-weapons-11655995248?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> asserted that Thursday\u2019s decision was the widest expansion of gun rights in more than a decade, adding that gun laws in at least eight other states and the District of Columbia may be affected by the decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need,\u201d Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the decision. \u201cThat is not how the First Amendment works when it comes to unpopular speech or the free exercise of religion. It is not how the Sixth Amendment works when it comes to a defendant\u2019s right to confront the witnesses against him. And it is not how the Second Amendment works when it comes to public carry for self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York\u2019s proper-cause requirement violates the Fourteenth Amendment in that it prevents law-abiding citizens with ordinary self-defense needs from exercising their right to keep and bear arms,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In early May, on the heels of someone leaking the draft of the Supreme Court decision which would revoke the infamous\u00a0<em>Roe v.
