The 6-3 ruling decided the right to bear arms in self-defense was \u201cnot a second class right\u201d and as such was fully protected by the Second Amendment. <\/p>\n<p>The law in question contained a proper-cause restriction that forced concealed carry applicants to provide they had a compelling reason for obtaining a license. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Clarence Thomas delivered the court\u2019s opinion, stating: \u201cIn this case, petitioners and respondents agree that ordinary, law-abiding citizens have a similar right to carry handguns publicly for their self-defense. We too agree, and now hold, consistent with <em>Heller <\/em>and <em>McDonald<\/em>, that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual\u2019s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The court thereby directed the proper-cause requirement to be removed to accommodate New Yorkers\u2019 Second Amendment rights. While citizens\u2019 rights were accommodated in the decision, Second Amendment opponents\u2019 feelings certainly were not. The outcry hit Twitter shortly after the court released the ruling. <\/p>\n<p>Keith Olbermann, a sports commentator too far-left even for NBC and ESPN, came to the totally normal <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KeithOlbermann\/status\/1539983585406484480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conclusion<\/a> that \u201cIt has become necessary to dissolve the Supreme Court of the United States,\u201d again reminding us all that the only answer to the polarized left when they don\u2019t get their way is that the highest court in America is a fraud.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"826\" height=\"699\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-2022-06-23-152330.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-274506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-2022-06-23-152330.png 826w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-2022-06-23-152330-300x254-1.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screenshot-2022-06-23-152330-768x650-1.png 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>A mass of verified Twitter users followed Olbermann\u2019s lead and joined in the hysteria, calling the Court \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomwatson\/status\/1539992406858285057\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">illegitimate<\/a>,\u201d \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaryLTrump\/status\/1539985464320573442\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thoroughly corrupt<\/a>,\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamParkhomenko\/status\/1539994387882528773\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mass shooters\u201d wearing robes<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Other Democrats and talking heads also leveled accusation upon accusation at the court, with California Gov. Gavin Newsom saying the decision marks a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GavinNewsom\/status\/1539993469644447744\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dark day in America<\/a>\u201d and MSNBC analyst Glenn Kirschner denouncing the court as being \u201cdetermined to make American [sic] the most deadly, the most dangerous and the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/glennkirschner2\/status\/1539985205422964739\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most inhospitable place on earth<\/a>.\u201d  <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"886\" height=\"399\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-274527\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/image-6.png 886w, https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/image-6-300x135.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/image-6-768x346-1.png 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe Supreme Court just said anyone can carry a concealed gun, anywhere, anytime. Don\u2019t spend your money here. Your life is at risk the second you deplane. Literally STAY OUT OF THE USA,\u201d blue checkmark Nicole Sandler tweeted. Kathy Hochul, professed her apparent desire to go back to the 18th century, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/townhallcom\/status\/1539985290290413570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">commenting<\/a>, \u201cI would like to point out to the Supreme Court justices, that the only weapons at that time were muskets. A state has the right to restrict abortions, but doesn\u2019t have the right to restrict firearms? But what they fail to understand is that the issue is not merely along party lines \u2014 it is the legitimacy of all rights protected by the Constitution. Rights to weapons and self-defense are often the first to fold under regimes but they are never the last.<\/p>\n<p>With arguments no less strong than their statements are accurate, leftists\u2019 rabid contempt for the court marks their refusal to tolerate the basic tenants of a free society.
