The artist who made the image confirmed the ad was satirical.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook image shows a supposed public notice from \u201cThe Soda Pop Board of America,\u201d allegedly located in Chicago, that is reminiscent of 1950s magazine advertisements. A banner across the top of the image encourages early-age soda consumption for \u201ca better start in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during that early formative period have a higher chance of gaining acceptance and \u2018fitting in\u2019 during those awkward pre-teen and teen years, \u201cthe ad claims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can trust The Soda Pop Board of America!\u201d the Facebook post\u2019s caption remarks. \u201cOr maybe not.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/04\/29\/fact-check-nazi-germany-coca-cola-advertisement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Image Show A Nazi-Themed Coca-Cola Ad From 1936?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The advertisement is digitally fabricated. There is no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%22The+Soda+Pop+Board+of+America%22&#038;ei=FxSzYoPzNd6s5NoPysenOA&#038;ved=0ahUKEwjD2uWqkMH4AhVeFlkFHcrjCQcQ4dUDCA4&#038;uact=5&#038;oq=%22The+Soda+Pop+Board+of+America%22&#038;gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBAgAEB4yBAgAEB4yBQgAEIYDMgUIABCGAzIFCAAQhgMyBQgAEIYDMgUIABCGAzoHCAAQRxCwAzoGCAAQHhAWOgYIABAeEA1KBAhBGABKBAhGGABQvwJY52JgrWVoAXABeACAAU6IAcUHkgECMTiYAQCgAQHIAQjAAQE&#038;sclient=gws-wiz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news report<\/a> suggesting an organization called \u201cThe Soda Pop Board of America\u201d ever existed or endorsed such an ad. The Chicago City Clerk\u2019s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicityclerk.com\/guides\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">street guide<\/a> does not show a street named \u201cW. Hard Avenue,\u201d which is the road the organization was listed at in the ad.<\/p>\n<p>The image originated from Philadelphia-based artist <a href=\"https:\/\/rjwhite.tumblr.com\/post\/472668874\/fact-checking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">R.J. White<\/a>, who explained in a 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/thecitydesk.net\/baby_soda_ad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> on \u201cThe City Desk\u201d website that the article was fake. He further clarified that the ad was made as a request from a <a href=\"https:\/\/jdryznar.livejournal.com\/64477.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LiveJournal<\/a> user in 2002 and has since popped-up on the internet in false context from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very fake. There was never a Soda Pop Board of America. There was never an organization advocating for soda for babies. But, it gets forwarded and forwarded and forwarded again.\u201d White wrote. \u201cThis thing will outlive me by several decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time a fake ad has been circulated on social media.
