Jim Jordan of Ohio is demanding U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland turn over documents that could explain why the Department of Justice has repeatedly refused to prosecute any threats against Republican-nominated Supreme Court justices following a leak of the <em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em> draft opinion.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to Garland, Jordan demanded President Joe Biden\u2019s DOJ head turn over all documents and communications with the White House, \u201cincluding those sent or received by employees of the United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Maryland and the United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia,\u201d related to the intimidation campaign against certain SCOTUS justices. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor several years, prominent Democrats have intimidated and bullied the Supreme Court to resist legal challenges to the left\u2019s radical progressive agenda,\u201d Jordan wrote. \u201cThe Biden Administration\u2019s reluctance to condemn these radical efforts\u2014Court-packing proposals, threats to justices and their families, and unsupported recusal demands\u2014has created an environment in which the far left now feels emboldened to harass justices at their private residences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View Jim Jordan Letter To Merrick Garland on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/579438119\/Jim-Jordan-Letter-To-Merrick-Garland#from_embed\">Jim Jordan Letter To Merric\u2026<\/a> by <a title=\"View The Federalist&#039;s profile on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/user\/274202084\/The-Federalist#from_embed\">The Federalist<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jordan said coordinated campaigns from shady left-wing organizations such as Ruth Sent Us \u2014 which <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/05\/meet-the-shady-left-wing-group-targeting-scotus-justices-and-their-families\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published the addresses<\/a> of Supreme Court justices\u2019 homes, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/08\/left-wing-group-that-doxxed-scotus-justices-home-addresses-downplays-death-threat-against-kavanaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">downplayed an assassination attempt<\/a> against Justice Brett Kavanaugh and his family, and encouraged its followers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ruth-sent-us-targeting-supreme-court-barrett-church\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">target Justice Amy Coney Barrett\u2019s children<\/a> \u2014 \u201cappear to be attempts to intimidate and influence the justices\u2019 rulings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite a federal statute banning protests designed to hamper \u201cthe administration of justice\u201d or \u201cwith the intent of influencing any judge \u2026 in the discharge of his duty,\u201d the DOJ under Garland\u2019s watch has so far refused to prosecute anyone who has picketed or protested at Republican-nominated justices\u2019 homes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis latest left-wing delegitimization campaign against the Supreme Court is a<br \/>transparent effort to influence the justices related to the discharge of their official duties,\u201d Jordan wrote. <\/p>\n<p>Jordan gave Garland until July 8 to respond to his inquiry and potentially to better explain why the DOJ hasn\u2019t taken action to protect the members of the highest court in the land from \u201cfomented organized harassment\u201d ahead of its finalized landmark decision on abortion.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to ignoring threats against justices, Garland\u2019s DOJ has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/21\/merrick-garlands-version-of-justice-for-all-doesnt-include-his-political-enemies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also mostly ignored<\/a> the growing number of violent attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers and churches.
