Jim Banks and California Rep. Doug LaMalfa introduced legislation Wednesday to allow adults to sue doctors that performed gender reassignment procedures on them while they were minors, Fox News reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Protect Minors From Medical Malpractice Act <a href=\"https:\/\/banks.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/the_protecting_minors_from_medical_malpractice_act.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">states<\/a>, \u201cA medical practitioner \u2026 who performs a gender-transition procedure on an individual who is less than 18 years of age shall, as described in subsection (b), be liable to the individual if injured (including any physical, psychological, emotional, or physiological harms) by such procedure, related treatment, or the aftereffects of the procedure or treatment.\u201d The bill defines gender reassignment procedures to include prescribing cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers as well sex-change surgery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/cotton-banks-introduce-legislation-allowing-adults-sue-doctors-who-transitioned-them-as-minors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Arkansas Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/28\/tom-cotton-biden-trying-pronounce-kleptocracy-alarming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Cotton<\/a> is introducing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cotton.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/protecting_minors.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senate version<\/a>. He did not respond to the Daily Caller\u2019s request for comment by time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden administration released official guidance recommending irreversible and life-altering surgery for minors too young to apply for a learner\u2019s permit,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/12\/jim-banks-letter-dhs-hhs-xavier-becerra-baby-formula-shortage-ending-title-42\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Banks<\/a> told the Daily Caller. \u201cTen years from now, there will be hundreds of thousands of Americans who were permanently scarred by the radical left\u2019s agenda before they reached adulthood.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Radical doctors in the US are performing dangerous, experimental, and even sterilizing gender-transition procedures on young kids, who can\u2019t even provide informed consent. Our bill allows children who grow up to regret these procedures to sue for damages.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ttaLTCg8WX\">https:\/\/t.co\/ttaLTCg8WX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Cotton (@SenTomCotton) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenTomCotton\/status\/1539683107913228290?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 22, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIf Democrats truly supported gender-confused children, they\u2019d support our effort to give them legal recourse,\u201d he also said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerforming experimental, irreversible, and potentially sterilizing procedures on vulnerable children is inexcusable,\u201d LaMalfa, co-sponsor with Banks of the bill in the House, told the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will keep fighting to get this legislation passed into law and ensure protections for our nation\u2019s children,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation would also remove certain federal funding from states that force doctors to perform such procedures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[A]ny State that requires medical practitioners to perform any gender-transition procedure on an individual in the State shall be ineligible to receive any Federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services,\u201d the bill says.<\/p>\n<p>The bill stipulates that an individual may sue a medical practitioner who administers such procedures no more than 30 years after he or she turns 18.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/15\/joe-biden-transgender-children-gender-affirming-care-sex-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">directed the Department of Health and Human Services<\/a> to expand access to what he called \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d June 15. He issued an executive order that told the HHS to strength efforts to ban conversion therapy and increase access to sex change treatment for transgender Americans, including children. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/15\/joe-biden-transgender-children-gender-affirming-care-sex-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Biden To Direct HHS To Expand Access To Sex Change Treatments, Particularly For Children)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Justice has intervened and filed statements of interest in lawsuits across the country challenging state laws that seek to ban transgender children from accessing gender-affirming health care and participating in school activities as unconstitutional,\u201d the White House said in a fact sheet at the time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Indiana Rep.
