A spokesperson from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) denied the claim.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post, garnering over 400 reactions, shows a screengrab of an article reporting on a former biologist at the San Diego Zoo who claims to have successfully impregnated herself with gorilla semen. She reportedly said she did so \u201cwith the hope of saving the endangered species.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMolly Heather, 23, a former biologist at the San Diego Zoo,, claims she took hundreds of specimens of semen of the animal while at work and tried to impregnate herself unsuccessfully for many years,\u201d the subheadline of the article reads.<\/p>\n<p>The article is not a genuine news report. Neither the San Diego Zoo or PETA have issued any <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegozoowildlifealliance.org\/pressroom\/news-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/media\/news-releases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">releases<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=gorilla%20(from%3Apeta)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posted<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/peta\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">anything<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=gorilla%20impregnated%20(from%3A%40sandiegozoo)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sandiegozoo\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100066519876319\/search\/?q=gorilla%20impregnated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> regarding the alleged report. There are likewise no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=peta+activist+impregnated+gorilla+semen&#038;sxsrf=ALiCzsanfoktfvvLLAiDTuL8hnPa9KZuug:1655838458982&#038;source=lnms&#038;tbm=nws&#038;sa=X&#038;ved=2ahUKEwjbp5z5nr_4AhUtmYQIHYoBB6EQ_AUoA3oECAEQBQ&#038;biw=1536&#038;bih=664&#038;dpr=1.25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news reports<\/a> to corroborate claims of an activist becoming pregnant from gorilla semen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is fake news,\u201d a PETA spokesperson told Check Your Fact in an email. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/07\/08\/fact-check-peta-tweet-censor-instagram-ruthless-nature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did PETA Call For The Censorship Of This Instagram Account In A Tweet?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>A keyword search found the original article first appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/worldnewsdailyreport.com\/peta-activist-claims-she-successfully-impregnated-herself-with-endangered-gorilla-semen-to-preserve-species\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World News Daily Report<\/a>, a satirical website. A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldnewsdailyreport.com\/disclaimer_\/\"><span>Disclaimer<\/span><\/a><span> on its site says \u201cWNDR assumes however all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content\u201d and states that characters appearing in the articles \u201care entirely fictional.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time an article from the satirical website has been circulated on social media as real.
