The agency announced in June it <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/bidens-cigarette-crackdown-a-boon-for-drug-dealers-experts-warn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">will also develop<\/a> a proposed rule to establish a maximum nicotine level in cigarettes and other tobacco products.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes on the heels of efforts by Democrats to hit tobacco suppliers after they had added a <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/house-democrats-tuck-vape-tax-into-1-85-trillion-spending-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax on vapes<\/a> last year to the Build Back Better Act. The bill passed the House but was never taken up in the Senate. The $75 billion U.S. tobacco industry is likely to take another hit following the FDA&#8217;s proposed rules for nicotine regulation.<\/p>\n<p>Experts who spoke with the\u00a0<em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> emphasized that the FDA&#8217;s decisions will only kneecap the domestic tobacco industry and <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/bidens-cigarette-crackdown-a-boon-for-drug-dealers-experts-warn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">benefit a burgeoning black market<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA has targeted Juul Labs, Inc., for the past four years, blaming the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/juul-cuts-valuation-to-10-billion-11603994473\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$10 billion<\/a> vaping company for appealing to underage people with flavors like mango and cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e. The company stopped selling sweet and fruity flavors in 2019, decreasing their sales.
