On Tuesday, Chevron\u2019s CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TocRadio\/status\/1539304405329223686?s=20&#038;t=gqrJkGUjdB7CgT19eOSYuA\">answered<\/a> that demand with his own lengthy letter while saying the company hopes to have an \u201chonest conversation\u201d with the commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW: A week after Biden attacked Chevron and Exxon, Chevron CEO sends <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a> a letter asking for having an &#8220;honest conversation&#8221; about realistic ways to lower prices <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R8lprPnMbD\">pic.twitter.com\/R8lprPnMbD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Christian Datoc (@TocRadio) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TocRadio\/status\/1539304405329223686?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Wirth\u2019s letter noted that in 2021, \u201cChevron produced the highest volume of oil and gas in our 143-year history\u201d and is currently investing $10 billion into green energy initiatives. Chevron then blasted the Biden administration for its anti-fossil fuel agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be clear that Chevron shares your concerns over the higher prices that Americans are experiencing,\u201d Wirth stated. \u201cAnd I assure you that Chevron is doing its part to help address these challenges by increasing capital expenditures to $18 billion in 2022, more than 50% higher than last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout this spring, gas prices reached record highs across America. On Tuesday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">cost of the average gallon of gasoline<\/a> in the U.S. was $4.968.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNotwithstanding these efforts, your Administration has largely sought to criticize, and at times vilify, our industry,\u201d Wirth remarked in his letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese actions are not beneficial to meeting the challenges we face and are not what the American people deserve,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The energy executive explained that there is a simple strategy that Biden can enact to lower costs and provide certainty for the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need clarity and consistency on policy matters ranging from leases and permits on federal lands, to the ability to permit and build critical infrastructure, to the proper role of regulation that considers both costs and benefits,\u201d Wirth said. \u201cMany of these elements are described in our industry\u2019s recently released 10-point plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/oil-experts-release-10-point-plan-for-biden-to-fix-energy-crisis-that-has-erupted-under-his-leadership\">reported<\/a> that Mike Sommers, President and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute (API),\u00a0 released a 10-point plan for Biden to follow to stop the historic fuel costs that have erupted under his administration.<\/p>\n<p>Wirth also explained to Biden that a serious conversation \u2014 one that respects the energy industry \u2014 is needed to help lower costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, we need an honest dialogue on how to best balance energy, economic, and environmental objectives \u2014 one that recognizes our industry is vital sector of the U.S. economy and is essential to our national security,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Biden told reporters that his \u201cteam\u201d will meet with energy leaders this week and ask how they can explain their record profits.<\/p>\n<p>Biden also emphasized his belief that Americans can use this energy crisis to transition to clean energy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dear mother used to have an expression: out of everything lousy, something good will happen, if you look hard enough for it\u201d he rambled to reporters gathered on the beach. \u201cWe have a chance to make a fundamental turn toward renewable energy, electric vehicles, and not just electric vehicles but across the board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden: &#8220;My mother had an expression: out of everything lousy, something good will happen.
