We\u2019ll probably pick up about four seats in the Senate,\u201d Gingrich told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo last month.<\/p>\n<p>The prediction is bold. It would be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/17\/politics\/midterm-election-house-gains-republican-democrat\/index.html\">largest seat-switch<\/a> since 1948, and surpass the shellacking Democrats took in the 2010 midterm elections, with Democratic President Barack Obama at the helm and the Tea Party movement thriving.<\/p>\n<p>CNN came out with a bleak analysis of Democrat odds, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew data from Gallup suggests that the national political environment is arguably worse for Democrats than it was in 2010 \u2014 raising at least the possibility that the party suffers even larger losses than currently predicted,\u201d CNN\u2019s Editor-at-large Chris Cillizza <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/17\/politics\/midterm-election-house-gains-republican-democrat\/index.html\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cA glance at the Gallup data \u2014 which looks at presidential approval, congressional approval, satisfaction with the direction of the country and overall judgment of economic conditions \u2014 reveals that the environment that was measured in May looks a lot like it did at the end of the 2010 cycle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cillizza made the following notes to compare the political environments:<\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_111E358B-018C-2460-2FC4-733CDBB1A8AC\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_11\"><em><strong>2022<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_4CA0859A-F755-31FF-60D4-733CDBB2A936\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_12\"><em>Biden approval: 41%<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_EE3A73A3-BD8D-8DAC-0E06-733CDBB36E94\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_13\"><em>Congressional approval: 18%<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_BD4F4897-EE2D-A141-21BC-733CDBB3821E\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_14\"><em>US satisfaction: 16%<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_E708C55C-2A95-E74A-AB2B-733CDBB46811\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_15\"><em>Economic conditions (net): -32<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_0302B09B-45F2-D2BA-6160-733CDBB54C96\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_16\"><em><strong>2010<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_FC719A9D-D8E9-F676-B1A6-733CDBB6EEB8\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_17\"><em>Obama approval: 45%<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_864569CA-C984-6383-805E-733CDBB6C94E\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_18\"><em>Congressional approval: 21%<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_C9A402FB-C4CD-DF72-A449-733CDBB76D10\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_19\"><em>US satisfaction: 22%<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph\" data-paragraph-id=\"paragraph_88ACD733-5F10-9E8D-A672-733CDBB8EEF8\" data-act-id=\"paragraph_20\"><em>Economic conditions (net): -31<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ouch.<\/p>\n<p>The polling is just not on Democrats\u2019 side, particularly when it comes to Americans\u2019 pocketbooks.<\/p>\n<p>Newsweek reported Friday that more than <em>half<\/em> of American adults think the U.S. has already entered a recession.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe latest IBD<em>\/<\/em>TIPP Economic Optimism Index published on Friday found that 53 percent of Americans think the economy has gone into a recession, and 25 percent say they\u2019re unsure. Only 20 percent believe the country is not in a recession,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/economy-already-collapsing-majority-americans-believe-1716958\">report<\/a> said. \u201cEven amid uncertainty, concerns have dramatically risen over the last month.
