Now you sound like a Republican politician. I\u2019m joking. That was a joke. That was a joke. But all kidding aside, no, I don\u2019t think it is,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was talking to Larry Summers this morning, and there is nothing inevitable about a recession. I think we\u2019ll be able to do it. I think we\u2019ll be able to get a change in Medicare and a reduction in the cost of insulin,\u201d the president continued. \u201cWe can also move in a direction that we can provide for tax increase in tax, taxes on those \u2013 in the corporate area as well as the individuals as it relates to Trump\u2019s tax cut, which is inflationary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Summers <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/13\/summers-yellen-recession-economy-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recently<\/a> said there is \u201ccertainly a risk of recession in the next year.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/19\/jennifer-granholm-tough-summer-gas-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018Tough Summer\u2019: Energy Sec. Makes Bleak Forecast, Signals Concerns About Gas)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/recession-probability-soars-as-inflation-worsens-11655631002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">report<\/a> from The Wall Street Journal said economists expect the likelihood of a recession to be 44% within the next year.<\/p>\n<p>Treasury Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/19\/janet-yellen-expects-economy-worse-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Janet Yellen<\/a> said Sunday she expects \u201cthe economy to slow\u201d but that she does not \u201cthink a recession is at all inevitable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClearly inflation is unacceptably high, it\u2019s President Biden\u2019s top priority to bring it down,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/19\/stephanopoulos-yellen-biden-inflation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yellen<\/a>\u00a0added.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Reserve <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/15\/fed-hike-interest-rates-june-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hiked target interest rates<\/a> by three-quarters of a percentage point June 15, projecting a slowing economy and a rise in unemployment.
