Hamilton admitted his thoughts might be \u201ccontentious,\u201d but given all the \u201cidentity politics\u201d going on in the world, using the symbol that means woman wouldn\u2019t be a good idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just want to get that woman symbol up at the front, I think,\u201d Lopez explained in the documentary. \u201cIt\u2019s got to be subtle. We have to be subtle with our message because people don\u2019t want to be hit over the f***ing head with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I\u2019m gonna be probably contentious now, but the only thing within it [the performance] that isn\u2019t subtle \u2013 and actually is contentious, given everything that is going on with identity politics at this moment \u2013 is the female symbol,\u201d Hamilton replied by phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that that could be reviewed by some people as being actually exclusive,\u201d he added. \u201cI think also it seems to be a little bit on the nose and something that might have been done at the Super Bowl a while back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t seem to have the artistry\u2026I understand the meaning behind it but I think that what you\u2019re saying within the show is way more powerful than having that symbol out there,\u201d Hamilton continued.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cHustlers\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/worst-idea-in-the-world-jennifer-lopez-slams-choice-to-appear-in-super-bowl-halftime-show-with-shakira\">star<\/a> seemed surprised by his comments and said she thought the part the director would have a problem with was that she wanted to include kids in \u201ccages\u201d on the stage of her halftime show as a message about immigration.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We got too emotional our Latinidad in this performance, we are overlooking <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/shakira?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Shakira<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JLo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JLo<\/a> political message: We still have kids in cages.
