Inslee gave tacit support for destroying four dams along the Snake River which account for 8 percent of Washington&#8217;s annual electricity generation, Environmental Director of Washington Policy Center Todd Meyers reports.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\"><\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>&#8220;Last week, @GovInslee gave implicit support to destroying the Snake River dams and 8% of Washington&#8217;s electricity generation. While Washington state faced the wettest start to the summer in over 70 years, other states are preparing for sweltering temperatures that will catastrophically disrupt our fragile electrical grid. That means blackouts, destruction, and death. Just look at the headlines.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<figure class=\"kg-card kg-image-card\"><\/figure>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Governor Inslee and Senator Patty Murray (D-Washington) released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murray.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/LSRD-Benefit-Replacement-Draft-Report_20220609.pdf?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=govdelivery\">draft report<\/a> in early June, saying that breaching the Snake River dams would allegedly be the best way to save Snake River salmon that are on the Endangered Species List.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Center Square <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/washington\/inslee-predicts-blackouts-destruction-and-death-this-summer\/article_93e96cce-ec3a-11ec-8c40-b31db9993c4a.html\">reports<\/a> that the proposal would cost taxpayers between $10.3 billion and $27.2 billion, as finding other ways to provide irrigation and electricity does not come as an easy feat.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>Meyers has long warned about removing the dams from Snake River which has been a topic of discussion in the state for decades, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/opinion\/removing-snake-river-dams-is-bad-for-economy-and-salmon\/#:~:text=Oddly%2C%20that%20is%20essentially%20what%20they%20have%20supported,of%20electricity%2C%20or%208%20percent%20of%20Washington%E2%80%99s%20energy.\">stating<\/a> that the removal of the dams would be akin to &#8220;destroying every wind turbine and solar panel in Washington.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>&#8220;Annually, the dams generate about 8.3 million megawatt hours of electricity, or 8 percent of Washington&#8217;s energy,&#8221; Meyers wrote in a piece for <em>The Seattle Times<\/em>. &#8220;That is more clean energy than is provided by all the wind and solar facilities in Washington state added together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>During legislative session earlier this year, Gov.
