The bill passed unanimously in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It was previously introduced by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) in May following a leak of a Supreme Court opinion from Justice Samuel Alito. Alito\u2019s draft indicated that the court might be set to overturn the\u00a0<em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Roe v. Wade\u00a0<\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">precedent and return decisions regarding abortion laws to individual states.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The protest was in addition to a\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/protesters-descend-on-amy-coney-barretts-home-one-day-after-kavanaugh-assassination-plot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">June 9 protest<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at Coney Barrett\u2019s home, just one day after authorities arrested a man near Justice Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s residence for attempted murder.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cU.S. Deputy Marshals reported seeing a person dressed in black clothing, and carrying a backpack and suitcase, get out of a taxi that stopped in front of a current justice\u2019s house at roughly 1:05 a.m., according to an\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mdd.514015\/gov.uscourts.mdd.514015.1.1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">affidavit<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u201d CBS News\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/man-indicted-by-grand-jury-for-attempting-to-murder-kavanaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reported<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The unprecedented leak has led to protests at the homes of other conservative justices. In addition, pro-life centers and houses of worship have been\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/17\/fbi-probes-attacks-on-pro-life-groups-as-roe-v-wade-decision-looms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">vandalized and attacked<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0following the leak, with many of the incidents claimed by a pro-abortion group called Jane\u2019s Revenge.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe will never stop, back down, slow down, or retreat. We did not want this; but it is upon us, and so we must deal with it proportionally. We exist in confluence and solidarity with all others in the struggle for complete liberation,\u201d members of Jane\u2019s Revenge said in a\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/abolitionmedia.noblogs.org\/post\/2022\/06\/14\/janes-revenge-another-communique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">letter<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cOur recourse now is to defend ourselves and to build robust, caring communities of mutual aid, so that we may heal ourselves without the need of the medical industry or any other intermediary.
