In a statement Saturday, Biden called the move a \u201cmonumental step.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cFor parents all over the country, this is a day of relief and celebration,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This comes after the FDA authorized the vaccines for children as young as six-months-old. Children will receive a two dose regimen for the Moderna vaccine and will be given three doses under the Pfizer vaccine. Biden said parents will be able to schedule vaccine appointments starting this week.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cAs the first country to protect our youngest children with COVID-19 vaccines, my administration has been planning and preparing for this moment for months,\u201d the president voiced. \u201cEffectively securing doses and offering safe and highly effective mRNA vaccines for all children as young as six-months- old.\u201d<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Good news, folks: Vaccines for kids under 5 have now been authorized by the FDA and recommended by the CDC.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, virtually every American can access the protections from these lifesaving vaccines \u2013 from our youngest to our most senior Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 President Biden (@POTUS) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS\/status\/1538247904141377536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb predicted a slow coronavirus vaccine rollout for kids. During an interview on CBS Face the Nation Sunday, Gottlieb said only 30 percent of kids ages five to 11 have received two doses of the vaccine.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201d I think it\u2019s gonna be more of a slow roll out, relevant to what we\u2019ve seen in past rollouts with other age groups,\u201d Gottlieb stated. \u201cThere are going to be pharmacy\u2019s that are giving vaccines. CVS is going to move it into their pharmacy\u2019s, but their only moving it into the pharmacy\u2019s with advanced care providers.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Gottlieb believes the vaccine doesn\u2019t ensure complete safety from the sickness, but will increase the baseline immunity against infection. A recent Keiser Family Foundation survey found just 18 percent of parents were eager to get their kids vaccinated.
