Jennifer Granholm warned Sunday while on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union\u201d that it will be a \u201ctough summer\u201d as she speculates gas prices could continue to climb.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Energy Information Administration projected for its June short-term outlook that average prices of gas per gallon will be around $4.27 in the third quarter. Granholm warned that could be \u201cupended\u201d by other factors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is \u2014 it\u2019s a forecast that is based on assumptions that could be completely upended with world events. For example, if the EU decides it, too, is going to fully ban Russian oil, that will create an upward pressure on prices. If China does open up sooner than is predicted, that, too, will \u2014 listen, far be it for me to say any firm date, I can just say what experts are projecting. We know this is going to be a tough summer because driving season just started and there will be continued upward pull on demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Granholm mentioned President Joe Biden\u2019s upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia, noting <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/13\/joe-biden-gasoline-prices-ethanol-gambit-white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biden<\/a> \u201chas asked for all suppliers around the globe to increase production.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bash also questioned Granholm to \u201cexplain\u201d to the American people why it is \u201cappropriate for a U.S. president to meet with a dictator who murdered and chopped up a journalist, to do that when it comes to human rights, given what he has said before about it.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/17\/white-house-gasoline-prices-oil-production\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: White House Ignores Oil Production In Quest For Gas Price Fix: REPORT)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Granholm said she\u2019s sure Biden will raise his concerns about human rights abuses, but that he\u2019s also \u201cvery concerned about what people are experiencing at the pump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaudi Arabia is head of OPEC. We need to have increased production so that everyday citizens in America will not be feeling this pain that they\u2019re feeling right now. So, all around the world, he is asking for people to increase production, but especially our own oil and gas producers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/02\/us\/politics\/biden-saudi-arabia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">promised<\/a> to make the nation a \u201cpariah\u201d after the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.<\/p>\n<p>As of Sunday, the national <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/07\/gas-prices-climb-overnight-astronomical-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">average price of gas<\/a> is $4.98, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AAA<\/a>. In some states, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/30\/gas-prices-hit-another-record-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gas<\/a> has topped $6 per gallon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Energy Sec.
