The Mainstream Media labeled those who raised lab leak concerns as conspiracy theorists.<\/p>\n<p>The WHO failed and the media covered for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. But the WHO, which previously called the lab leak theory \u201cextremely unlikely,\u201d last week issued a report saying it should be more thoroughly investigated.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tag\/who\/\">WHO<\/a> Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus went as far as to say it is premature to rule out a lab leak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was a lab technician myself, I\u2019m an immunologist, and I have worked in the lab, and lab accidents happen,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/health\/20210716-push-to-rule-out-covid-19-lab-leak-theory-was-pr%20%20emature-who-chief-says\">Tedros said<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s common.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/podcasts\/morning-wire\">CLICK TO DOWNLOAD AND HEAR DR. MAKARY\u2019S \u2018MORNING WIRE\u2019 INTERVIEW<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China reacted swiftly.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing responded pretty forcefully to the WHO report last Friday foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a daily press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lab leak theory is totally a lie concocted by anti-China forces for political purposes, which has nothing to do with science,\u201d said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, going on to claim COVID may have come from an American lab.<\/p>\n<p>Makary said Beijing is deflecting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re trying to bring attention to the fact that similar experiments were being done around the world, including in the U.S.,\u201d the Harvard-trained doctor said.<\/p>\n<p>Makary is pessimistic that the smoking gun the WHO says it needs will ever turn up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re saying, \u2018Unless we get more information, then we\u2019re not going to be able to know. And in order to know, we\u2019re going to have to have lab documents. We\u2019re going to have to have experts who were involved come out with witness protection,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody thinks that\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Makary said, noting Beijing\u2019s habit of punishing whistleblowers and their families.<\/p>\n<p>But what Americans should be able to get answers to, according to Makary, is what role U.S. taxpayers played in funding gain-of-function research, which engineers viruses to be more transmissible and even deadly. If such research helped unleash COVID on the globe, it is the biggest liability case in world history, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s arguable as to whether or not [U.S. taxpayer funding] was directly going to gain-of-function research,\u201d Makary said. \u201cBut when Dr. Fauci learned of this, he called an emergency meeting early in the pandemic of scientists from around the country. We now have records \u2026 that show that scientists in that initial emergency meeting from top labs in the United States said, basically, \u2018This is likely from the lab.\u2019 And one of them even said, \u2018It\u2019s likely engineered.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makary noted that Fauci and his boss at National Institutes of Health Francis Collins moved quickly to quash talk of a lab leak, according to emails obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd after that there was sort of a pact made to not speak publicly because it would so-called feed the conspiracists,\u201d Makary said. \u201cAnd both of those scientists who said it was a lab leak came out publicly and said they don\u2019t think it\u2019s a lab leak.
