Thanks to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadianlawyermag.com\/practice-areas\/litigation\/bc-court-of-appeal-finds-trans-teen-can-seek-hormone-treatment-without-parents-consent\/325135#:~:text=In%20A.B.,to%20hormone%20treatment%20under%20s.\">Canadian law<\/a>, doctors may administer transgender drugs to children without parental consent.<\/p>\n<p>Four years later, the dad, whose\u00a0identity was put under a publication ban by the court to protect his child, is still fighting in the British Columbia Courts over the loss of his parental rights in the medical transitioning of his teen daughter.<\/p>\n<p>After the dad spoke out against his child\u2019s gender transition, he\u00a0was arrested in March of last year and fined $30,000 for misgendering his daughter, who was 13 at the time. He was denied bail and held in jail while he waited for his trial to begin the next month.\u00a0He was also charged with criminal contempt of court and faced up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The father has incurred \u201cenormous losses and expenses\u201d over the ordeal and has been \u201cdragged through a kind of legal hell,\u201d according to his GoGetFunding\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gogetfunding.com\/bc-father-fighting-medical-transitioning-of-children\/\">page<\/a>. The page has raised nearly $80,000 as of Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/search\/news?refinementList%5Bpost_author.display_name%5D=&#038;refinementList%5Btaxonomies.post_tag%5D%5B0%5D=Matt%20Walsh&#038;page=1\">Matt Walsh<\/a> interviewed the Canadian dad for his documentary \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/videos\/what-is-a-woman\">What Is A Woman<\/a>,\u201d released earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not able to leave BC [British Columbia]. I can\u2019t even go to another province in Canada right now, and it\u2019s because I\u2019m technically out on bail,\u201d the dad told Walsh in the film.<\/p>\n<p>The dad told Walsh that his ex-wife brought their daughter to an appointment at British Columbia Children\u2019s Hospital. The dad said he trusted the hospital to perform a thorough evaluation and\u00a0thought, \u201cgood, this is going to be the end of it all. They\u2019re going to clearly see that my child is not the opposite sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He got a call less than an hour into that appointment, however, informing him that \u201cthey were going to pump her full of cross-sex hormones within the hour,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I put a halt to that. I said no,\u201d the dad said. \u201cThey agreed to stop for the moment. They figured, well let\u2019s get the dad on board too \u2026\u00a0I said it\u2019s not going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After that, the dad said he got a letter from the hospital in December 2018 saying that under British Columbia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/complete\/statreg\/96223_01\">Infants Act<\/a> the hospital would be starting his daughter on cross-sex hormones, and he had two weeks to respond with legal action if he chose to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo that\u2019s how I ended up in court, because I did respond with legal action,\u201d the dad said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he was publicly referring to his daughter as \u201cshe.\u201d In Canada, it can be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/cbcdocspov\/features\/canadas-gender-identity-rights-bill-c-16-explained\">considered<\/a> criminal violence to refuse to use someone\u2019s preferred pronouns, the dad said, so the dad ended up in jail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is no different than let\u2019s say I were to take a broomstick and whack one of my kids over the head,\u201d the dad said.<\/p>\n<p>His daughter was still on cross-sex hormones as of Walsh\u2019s interview.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Canadian father who was jailed for opposing his child\u2019s gender transition is still fighting in court.
