An image shared on Facebook claims the organization estimates some 500 million refugees are already on the move.<\/p>\n<p>The image shows a purported March 15 New York Post article with a headline that reads, \u201cUN warns of massive refugee movement from Africa: \u2018500 million people on their way to Europe.&#8217;\u201d\u00a0The purported story features an image of inflatable boats packed with what appear to be refugees wearing life vests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnless something is done to stop this flow into the UK, there will be civil unrest,\u201d the post\u2019s caption claims, adding the country does not have \u201cthe housing, jobs or spare funds\u201d to support the refugees.<\/p>\n<p>The image is digitally fabricated. No such article appears on the New York Post\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/search\/UN+Refugee\/page\/3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. There is likewise no mention of 500 million refugees heading to Europe on the U.N. <a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/search\/Europe%20Refugees?page=5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. Check Your Fact found no credible news about the massive amount of migrants allegedly heading to Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Post confirmed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/factcheck-nyp-un\/fact-check-newyork-post-did-not-publish-a-headlineclaiming-u-n-issued-warningof-massive-refugee-movement-idUSL1N2Y11Y8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reuters<\/a> that it did not publish any article with that title. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/01\/28\/fact-check-new-york-post-tweet-russian-troops\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did The New York Post Share A Satellite Image Of Russian Soldiers In A \u2018Let\u2019s Go Brandon\u2019 Formation?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>This is not the first time fake New York Post articles have spread online.
