This time it\u2019s about Jon Snow.<\/p>\n<p>The network is already releasing \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d in August, which takes place during the Targaryen civil war several hundred years before \u201cGOT\u201d unfolds. Now HBO is producing a second followup to their money-making series about one of the most popular characters, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/game-of-thrones-jon-snow-spinoff-1235167415\/\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kit Harington\u2019s portrayal of Jon Snow in the original series earned him two Primetime Emmy award nominations and one Golden Globe nomination. \u201cGOT\u201d presented him as the bastard son of Ned Stark, who raised him as his own. But eventually audiences learned that Jon was truly Aegon Targaryen and had a potential claim to the Iron Throne. The \u201cGOT\u201d finale had Jon Snow banished from Westeros and sent to live North of the Wall with the Wildlings.<\/p>\n<p>While \u201cGOT\u201d was based on George R.R. Martin\u2019s books, this new series represents the network going in new directions, similarly to what Disney did with the \u201cStar Wars\u201d franchise, THR noted. While many characters are dead after the finale, it\u2019s logical to assume at least some of the survivors, including Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) could make appearances in the new project.<\/p>\n<p>THR noted that this news brings the \u201cGOT\u201d spinoff count to seven current projects in development, including the upcoming \u201cHouse of the Dragon.\u201d Other live-action prequels previously announced are \u201c10,000 Ships\u201d (a.k.a. \u201cNymeria\u201d), \u201c9 Voyages,\u201d and \u201cDunk and Egg.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are also three animated prequels in development, including \u201cThe Golden Empire\u201d set in a China-inspired land called Yi Ti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGame of Thrones\u201d was massively popular but many fans hated the eighth season, especially the ending. This makes it notable that a sequel about Jon Snow would take place after those events. Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister on the series, discussed his thoughts on fan pushback during an interview in December, The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/move-on-peter-dinklage-defends-controversial-game-of-thrones-finale\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Fans] wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together. By the way, it\u2019s fiction. There\u2019s dragons in it.
