Murdoch does not own any companies in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/ZV2UH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a>, shared over 500 times, claims Murdoch \u201chas been banned from having a media platform in New Zealand.\u201d The mogul currently owns and controls a large media empire that includes cable networks such as Fox News and newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/rupert-murdoch\/?sh=217ceff2b1af\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forbes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence such a ban exists or that New Zealand is currently considering one against Murdoch. The alleged ban has not been announced in any press releases published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beehive.govt.nz\/search?query=rupert+murdoch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the New Zealand Government<\/a> or by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nzme.co.nz\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Zealand Media and Entertainment<\/a>, a media business that owns numerous national newspapers and radio shows.<\/p>\n<p>No such announcement appears on the government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beehive.govt.nz\/search?query=Rupert+Murdoch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release archives<\/a> or on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beehive.govt.nz\/portfolio\/labour-2020-2023\/broadcasting-and-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">webpage<\/a> of the Minister of Broadcasting and Digital Media.
