Twenty-two percent of respondents did not agree with the majority, while another 22 percent were unsure.<\/p>\n<p>Broken down by political affiliation, 70 percent of Republicans say we\u2019re in a recession, while 45 percent of Democrats agree. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/3524517-fed-hikes-rates-by-75-basis-points-for-first-time-since-1994\/\">The Federal Reserve <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/3524517-fed-hikes-rates-by-75-basis-points-for-first-time-since-1994\/\">announced on Wednesday, <\/a>that it will hike interest rates at the fastest pace its seen in nearly 30 years.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Among Americans who currently think we are in a recession, more than half (54%) say it&#8217;s worse than the 2008 recession. 13% say it&#8217;s better, and the same share says it&#8217;s equal to the 08&#8242; recession.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SmS21gqI0G\">https:\/\/t.co\/SmS21gqI0G<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VGWn3MCMjc\">pic.twitter.com\/VGWn3MCMjc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 YouGov America (@YouGovAmerica) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YouGovAmerica\/status\/1537175613336870916?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The poll came as Americans nationwide grapple with rising inflation, high gas prices and increasing costs for everyday staples.
