Version: 4.0.47--><p><a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/disney\">Disney<\/a> is delaying a plan to relocate thousands of employees from <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/california\">California<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/florida\">Florida<\/a> amid the entertainment giant\u2019s battle with Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/ron-desantis\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> (R-FL), a new report revealed this week.<\/p>\n<p>Last summer, Disney announced that it would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/disney-moves-thousands-of-jobs-from-california-to-floridas-business-friendly-climate\">move 2,000 jobs<\/a> to the Lake Nona community of Orlando, Florida, due to the state\u2019s \u201cbusiness-friendly climate,\u201d according to Josh D\u2019Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. \u00a0But earlier this year, Disney leadership opposed parental rights legislation in Florida \u2014 leading DeSantis to declare that \u201cDisney is a guest in Florida.\u201d He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-desantis-signs-bills-into-law-that-strips-disney-of-special-powers-blocks-crt-in-schools\">signed<\/a> legislation to end a special governing district that hosted Disney World, which allowed the firm to avoid certain state taxes and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the new legislation, the move of 2,000 staff members was pushed to 2026, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/wdwnt.com\/2022\/06\/walt-disney-imagineering-move-to-lake-nona-delayed-to-mid-2026\/\">WDW News Today<\/a>, which added that some employees were upset about the delay since they had already sold their homes in California.<\/p>\n<p>Disney spokesperson Jacquee Wahler confirmed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/disney-delays-relocation-thousands-jobs-2026-1235166514\/#recipient_hashed=cd3d9cd54f48aeffcd4163aefb8b0856f74cdbdedaf2f2816caff03549cf516b\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that though \u201ca growing number of employees\u201d whose jobs will be based at a new campus have already moved, \u201cwe also want to continue to provide flexibility to those relocating, especially given the anticipated completion date of the campus is now in 2026.\u201d Wahler said that Disney is \u201caligning the relocation period with the campus completion\u201d as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/business\/story\/2022-06-15\/disney-delays-moving-southern-california-jobs-to-florida-amid-desantis-fight\">according<\/a> to the Los Angeles Times, \u201cWhen asked whether the relocation holdup was related to the DeSantis dispute, the Disney spokesperson said it was not.\u201d This claim has not satisfied many industry insiders, with Jim Shull, a former Disney Imagineer, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JimShull\/status\/1537129727319650304\">tweeting<\/a> that this move was an example of Disney \u201csticking it to\u201d DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw told The Daily Wire that the governor has not discussed the delay with Disney. She noted, however, that Disney is far from the only large employer in Florida, which leads the nation in \u201cboth domestic migration and wealth migration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, Florida <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/irs-taxes-low-high-state-migration-moving-pandemic-remote-work-cost-of-living-11654289927\">saw an influx<\/a> of $23.7 billion in wealth amid taxpayer migration in 2020, according to IRS data, per the Wall Street Journal. These influxes starkly contrast with New York and California \u2014 both of which pursued aggressive lockdown policies in reaction to COVID-19 \u2014 saw respective net losses of $19.5 billion and $17.8 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Disney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/shell-companies-and-shady-lawyers-why-did-disney-get-to-govern-itself-in-florida\">acquired<\/a> the Reedy Creek Improvement District \u2014 a 39-square-mile special governing and tax zone that hosted Disney World \u2014 under the leadership of founder Walt Disney. The property that would become Disney World was acquired at an average cost of $180 per acre \u2014 \u201can incredible feat considering that shortly after the announcement was made, a nearby acre sold for more than $300,000,\u201d a Disney <a href=\"https:\/\/disneyparks.disney.go.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/bob-foster-and-the-founding-of-a-disney-kingdom\/\">blog post<\/a> says.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Claude Kirk (R-FL) signed the Reedy Creek Improvement Act in 1967 after a period of heavy lobbying from Disney the year after Walt Disney died. Yet Disney\u2019s foray into progressive politics \u2014 specifically, its condemnation of a law that bans classroom discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity for children from kindergarten through third grade \u2014 prompted Florida officials to revoke the special privileges.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exclusive-poll-over-60-of-americans-back-floridas-limits-on-k-3-lessons-on-sexual-orientation-and-gender-identity\">exclusive poll from The Daily Wire<\/a> conducted by market research technology platform Lucid in March revealed that 64% of Americans supported the parental rights legislation after they were presented with the actual language of the law, which has been dubbed the \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d bill by critics and some media outlets. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exclusive-poll-67-of-americans-say-disney-is-wrong-to-oppose-florida-bill-banning-k-3-instruction-on-sexual-orientation-and-gender-identity\">same poll<\/a> showed that 67% of Americans believe Disney was \u201cwrong\u201d for opposing the law, as it \u201cwould protect children from inappropriate topics that should be discussed by parents.\u201d There were no salient differences between Americans of different racial groups, and a clear majority of Democrats expressed support for the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone said Disney has all these special perks,\u201d DeSantis argued earlier this year. \u201cShould you retaliate against them for them coming out and demagoguing this bill?
