The photo first appeared in May on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apimages.com\/metadata\/Index\/Afghanistan-Women\/956346e9efc94f2689976928e357309f\/2\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AP Images<\/a>, which identifies the woman as Afghanistan-based TOLO News anchor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wric.com\/news\/u-s-world\/taliban-enforcing-face-cover-order-for-female-tv-anchors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Khatereh Ahmadi<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTV anchor Khatereh Ahmadi bows her head while wearing a face covering as she reads the news on TOLO NEWS, in Kabul, Afghanistan, Sunday, May 22, 2022,\u201d reads part of the image\u2019s caption. \u201cAfghanistan\u2019s Taliban rulers have begun enforcing an order requiring all female TV news anchors in the country to cover their faces while on-air.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Taliban began enforcing the order last month, with the Information and Culture Ministry declaring the policy was \u201cfinal and non-negotiable\u201d for all networks, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/afghanistan-politics-taliban-7fd9a14700480f6e1c6da206ad6d8bfc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Associated Press<\/a>.
