Glenn Youngkin proposed an amendment to the state budget Thursday which would make it a felony to protest in front of a judge\u2019s home with an intent to intimidate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI approve the general purpose of this bill, but I am returning it without my signature with the request that thirty-five amendments be adopted,\u201d Youngkin <a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?222+amd+HB30AG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> to the Virginia legislature.<\/p>\n<p>Amendment 35 would make picketing in front of a judge\u2019s home a Class 6 felony, which <a href=\"https:\/\/law.lis.virginia.gov\/vacode\/title18.2\/chapter1\/section18.2-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">could result<\/a> in one to five years in prison and an up to $2,500 fine.<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/cnn-brianna-keilar-jon-tester-democrats-chuck-schumer-be-better-rhetoric-brett-kavanaugh-would-be-assassin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED:\u00a0CNN Anchor Presses Democrat On Whether Party\u2019s Rhetoric Had Something To Do With Kavanaugh\u2019s Would-Be Assassin)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anyone who pickets \u201cwith the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing or intimidating [a judge or justice] in the discharge of his or her duty\u201d outside a court building or a judge\u2019s residence or the residence of a judge\u2019s immediate family member would be guilty of a felony under the proposed amendment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">After catching heat from the right for not cracking down on protests at the homes of SCOTUS justices, Virginia Gov. The man said he was motivated by anger about the potential reversal of Roe v. Wade. He was armed with a handgun, a knife and pepper spray and arrived to Kavanaugh\u2019s home by taxi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is exactly the kind of event that many worried the unhinged, reckless, apocalyptic rhetoric from prominent figures toward the Court, going back many months, and especially in recent weeks, could make more likely,\u201d Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/mcconnell-blames-unhinged-rhetoric-attempted-brett-kavanaugh-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said at the time<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Virginia Gov.
