Sean Casten detailed his daughter\u2019s final hours in a heartbreaking statement Wednesday night, just two days after his teenage daughter was found dead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no words to describe the hole in your heart when a child dies,\u201d Casten said. \u201cGwen was a happy, healthy, well adjusted young woman who was looking forward to starting her freshman year at the University of Vermont where she was planning to study environmental science.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Sunday night, we had dinner as a family and then she went out with some friends for a few hours. When she got home, she said \u2018goodnight\u2019 to Kara and I, texted a friend to make sure she got home OK, and didn\u2019t wake up on Monday morning. The only thing we know about her death is that it was peaceful,\u201d Casten continued.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We are grateful to all who have reached out with thoughts, condolences and help. Not because you know that your tomorrow will come, but because you know that someone else\u2019s will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/14\/sean-casten-teenager-daughter-gwen-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gwen Casten<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepCasten\/status\/1536509698404405248?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">died<\/a> Monday morning. Her cause of death has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf her light seemed a bit brighter than most it was because she was so generous in reflecting back the light and love that so many gave to her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Downers Grove authorities were called to the family home around 6:48 a.m. for an unresponsive female, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/sean-casten-illinois-congressman-daughter-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox News<\/a> reported. The DuPage County Coroner responded to the scene as well and her cause of death is being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>Casten is currently running for his third term in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/chicago-politics\/illinois-6th-congressional-district-newman-casten-face-off-in-democratic-primary\/2853839\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">newly-drawn<\/a> 6th congressional district in Illinois.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic Illinois Rep.
