Depending on which speech, figurehead, and time of day, the story zags from one of three different excuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">First, it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/fact-check-joe-bidens-putin-price-hike-inflation-claim-accurate-1715647\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all Putin\u2019s fault<\/a>, or maybe it\u2019s the Republicans, or perhaps it\u2019s still that pesky COVID. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Second, what the hell are you talking about? The economy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Forbes\/status\/1536507417957130243?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is actually great!<\/a> How dare you believe your pocketbook over the Biden administration?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> And finally third, there <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/01\/politics\/joe-biden-gas-food-prices\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">isn\u2019t anything they can do<\/a> about this bad and\/or good economy!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Is this a messaging problem? Maybe it\u2019s just a policy issue. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What appears to be clear is that President Biden\u2019s sanctions on Russia aren\u2019t producing the intended results \u2013 which would be pain for Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Americans, on the other hand, have economic pain to spare.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Russia just posted an *all time record* in oil profits. How could that be if they were supposedly being punished economically with sanctions?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/world\/europe\/russias-fuel-revenue-export-volumes-at-its-highest-levels-report\/articleshow\/92216565.cms?UTM_Source=Google_Newsstand&#038;UTM_Campaign=RSS_Feed&#038;UTM_Medium=Referral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lauri Myllyvirta, an analyst at the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air<\/a>, believes the answer is rooted in economic principles. She states plainly:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe current rate of revenue is unprecedented, because prices are unprecedented, and export volumes are close to their highest levels on record.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Export volumes close to record levels after devastating sanctions from the U.S. and Europe? Say it ain\u2019t so!<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Just how unprecedented are the revenue and prices? Get ready for your draw to drop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to the same Center, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/13\/climate\/russia-oil-gas-record-revenue.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia earned<\/a> 93 billion Euros in revenue from oil, gas, and coal exports since their invasion of Ukraine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So how does this sort of thing happen? It\u2019s all about the price and loopholes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/13\/climate\/russia-oil-gas-record-revenue.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The European Union decreased its imports<\/a> of Russian crude oil by about 18% in May of this year. That sounds good; decrease is a word we want to hear when sanctioning a country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, India and the United Arab Emirates increased their imports, effectively offsetting what the European Union did with their decrease. But, wait, the United States isn\u2019t accepting Russian oil, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The United States did indeed ban all Russian fossil fuel imports. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.in\/stock-market\/news\/russian-oil-products-are-likely-ending-up-in-the-us-after-being-refined-in-india-report-says\/articleshow\/91945785.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">we have been importing refined oil<\/a> from the Netherlands and India. And where do you suppose the Netherlands and India got the fossil fuels to refine? You guessed it, Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The sanctions against Russia were an attempt to damage them enough to stall the assault on Ukraine. However, as <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/russias-oil-revenue-soars-despite-181624231.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oleg Ustenko, the economic advisor<\/a> to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, highlights, it\u2019s not enough.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cYou can stop importing Russian caviar and Russian vodka, and that\u2019s good, but definitely not enough. You need to stop importing Russian oil.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">40 billion pissed away as mainstream media has now dropped the narrative that Ukraine is winning. It\u2019s a misconception to believe that Russia isn\u2019t strategic in its moves, both militarily and economically.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/13\/climate\/russia-oil-gas-record-revenue.html#:~:text=Fossil%20fuel%20exports%20have%20been,to%20the%20International%20Energy%20Agency.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2021, 45% of Russia\u2019s budget<\/a> was made up of oil and gas sales, according to the International Energy Agency. It\u2019s estimated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/finance-and-economics\/2022\/05\/13\/russia-is-on-track-for-a-record-trade-surplus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surplus could reach $250 billion<\/a>. Compare that to the $300 billion frozen in central bank assets and foreign currency reserves at the start of the war. That\u2019s not a bad position to be in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But you might be thinking, mainly because that\u2019s what the talking heads want you to think, that once Russia\u2019s stockpile runs out, they will start to feel the pain. Sure, I suppose that would be true if it weren\u2019t for key European countries buying them time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spectator.co.uk\/article\/are-sanctions-making-russia-richer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Germany has agreed to a gradual phase<\/a> of energy sanctions to protect its economic structure. Do you know what that sounds like? Valuable bought time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If managed appropriately, surpluses can stretch for quite some time. For example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/russia-ruble-currency-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia\u2019s account surplus<\/a> was $37 billion in April alone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/economists-to-americans-get-used-to-it-biden-economy-not-getting-better-anytime-soon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Economists To Americans: Get Used To It! Biden Economy Not Getting Better Anytime Soon<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sanctions Against The American People<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So what does this all mean? Well, fill up your car on any given day or go to the grocery store, and you\u2019ll feel the sanctions in your bank account.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/russia-ruble-currency-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tatiana Orlova, the lead emerging markets economist<\/a> at Oxford Economics, articulates what we all feel:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cCommodity prices are currently sky-high, and even though there is a drop in the volume of Russian exports due to embargoes and sanctioning, the increase in commodity prices more than compensates for these drops.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On top of gas, we now see a possible food insecurity issue in a country that no one would ever believe would face food insecurity. A term generally reserved for third-world countries, it relates to food inflation.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Yeah one eviction at a time. This is a disaster. We have never seen so many eviction and homeless cases ever. Inflation is crushing our at risk families. They cannot absorb these increases in gas, food, rent and energy. The <a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/news\/commodities\/recession-outlook-energy-oil-food-fertilizer-prices-russia-world-bank-2022-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President of the World Bank warns<\/a> of a global recession due to the increase in commodity prices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But don\u2019t stop there. Airline fares are up 37.8%, electricity bills up 12%, and rent is up 5.2%. It Smells Like S**t In Here!<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To add insult to injury, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/biden-officials-worry-russia-sanctions-hit-us-economy-report-2022-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden administration, to slow down inflation, is pressuring U.S. agriculture and shipping businesses<\/a> to buy and carry more Russian fertilizer on the down-low.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right. As a result, Russia is poised to be insulated from the economic punishments bestowed upon them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/06\/14\/biden-economy-afl-cio-00039580\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Biden bellowed at the AFL-CIO union convention<\/a> this week in Philadelphia:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cI don\u2019t want to hear any more of these lies about reckless spending.
