A hearing two weeks ago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/john-hinckley-jr-who-tried-to-assassinate-ronald-reagan-granted-full-release\">confirmed<\/a> those plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter 41 years 2 months and 15 days, FREEDOM AT LAST!!!\u201d he posted to his Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">After 41 years 2 months and 15 days, FREEDOM AT LAST!!!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Hinckley (@JohnHinckley20) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnHinckley20\/status\/1537105834571976704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hinckley attacked Reagan on March 30, 1981, with a revolver in an attempt to gain the attention of actress Jodie Foster. The commander-in-chief was \u201cwounded when one of the bullets ricocheted off of the limousine, striking him under the left armpit\u201d and sending him to the hospital for 12 days, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaganlibrary.gov\/permanent-exhibits\/assassination-attempt\">Ronald Reagan Presidential Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Press Secretary James Brady, Secret Service Agent Timothy McCarthy, and policeman Thomas Delahanty were also wounded during the shooting. Brady \u2014 for whom the White House briefing room is named \u2014 was partially paralyzed for the rest of his life due to the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Hinckley was found guilty by reason of insanity and initially sent to a mental hospital. \u201cBut starting in 2003 Friedman began allowing Hinckley to live for longer stretches in the community with requirements like attending therapy and restrictions on where he can travel,\u201d the AP reported.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, Hinckley was granted permission to live full-time with his mother. \u201cStill, he was required to attend individual and group therapy sessions, was barred from talking to the media and could only travel within a limited area,\u201d the outlet added. \u201cSecret Service would also periodically follow him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond his attempted assassination of Reagan, Hinckley gained attention in 2021 for his YouTube channel, where he has \u201cgarnered thousands of views and more than 8,000 subscribers for his original songs and covers of Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley tunes,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/culture\/culture-news\/john-hinckley-youtube-channel-monetization-1178214\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a> reported. \u201cBut even though Hinckley\u2019s content is fairly innocuous, there\u2019s undeniably something more than a little bit iffy about a convicted presidential assassin crooning plaintive love tunes on social media.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the days preceding his release, Hinckley appeared to be preparing for an entrance into the music world.
