The company decided to make the cars in Mexico because it was a lot <a href=\"https:\/\/financialpost.com\/transportation\/autos\/ford-unveils-electric-mustang-suv-to-challenge-tesla-dominance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cheaper<\/a> than hiring American workers to do it in this country.<\/p>\n<p>The development could undermine Buttigieg&#8217;s controversial <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/dem-lawmakers\/583325-buttigieg-electric-vehicle-owners-never-have-to-worry-about-gas-prices-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suggestion<\/a> that hardworking Americans should stop complaining about <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/gas-prices-set-fourth-record-high-under-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">record gas prices<\/a> and buy expensive electric cars so that they&#8217;ll &#8220;never have to worry about gas prices again.&#8221; The Mach-E has a starting price of $43,895, although most new models <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kbb.com\/cars-for-sale\/new\/ford\/mustang-mach-e\/washington-dc-20001\/?dma=&#038;searchRadius=50&#038;isNewSearch=true&#038;marketExtension=include&#038;showAccelerateBanner=false&#038;sortBy=relevance&#038;numRecords=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for sale<\/a> in the Washington, D.C., area are listed in the $60,000 to $80,000 price range.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg, 40, is the former mayor of South Bend, the fourth-largest city in Indiana. He has <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/politics\/buttigieg-white-boomer-dance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">high, high hopes<\/a> for his political future. While his presidential campaign in 2020 didn&#8217;t pan out so well, he did develop a niche fanbase of wealthy white liberals in &#8220;boat shoe&#8221; strongholds such as Cape Cod, Martha&#8217;s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
