Their plan, according to Melugin\u2019s report, is to continue gathering signatures in case some of them cannot be properly verified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBREAKING: The campaign to recall LA DA @GeorgeGascon\u00a0tells me they hit the necessary 567,000 signatures today, and have received 30,000+ signatures in the last few days alone. They need 566,857 *verified* by July 6th, and are aiming for 650k + by then for \u2018padding,&#8217;\u201d Melugin tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe campaign tells me some of the signatures will inevitably be thrown out, which is why they want to build as much padding or \u2018cushion\u2019 as possible before the deadline. They believe 650-700k would lock it in to qualify. \u2018We are within striking distance of Gascon,\u2019 they tell me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The campaign tells me some of the signatures will inevitably be thrown out, which is why they want to build as much padding or \u201ccushion\u201d as possible before the deadline.<br \/>They believe 650-700k would lock it in to qualify.<br \/>\u201cWe are within striking distance of Gascon,\u201d they tell me.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillFOXLA\/status\/1537132194707152896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gasc\u00f3n\u00a0has been under fire recently as violent crime in Los Angeles has continued to rise while his soft-on-crime policies do little to \u201creform\u201d criminal justice as he promised.<\/p>\n<p>One woman, after a teenaged driver in a stolen vehicle <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/watch-hit-and-run-driver-who-ran-over-mom-and-baby-gets-5-7-months-in-juvie-camp\/\">nearly killed her<\/a> and her 8-month-old baby, addressed Gasc\u00f3n\u2019s plan to send the perpetrator to \u201cjuvie camp\u201d for a few months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGeorge Gasc\u00f3n\u00a0doesn\u2019t value my life or the life of my child, or any other victim out there and would rather reward the monsters \u2026 by demonstrating to them that their actions have no consequences,\u201d she said in a victim impact statement. \u201cDA Gasc\u00f3n\u00a0is telling him and every other thug in LA County that it doesn\u2019t matter if you try to murder people. Why are Gasc\u00f3n\u2019s policies prioritizing the livelihood of rotten monsters when my child, my baby, who is incapable of protecting himself, is left to fend for himself, and is essentially being told his life doesn\u2019t matter?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the criminals certainly appear to have gotten the message.
