During a press conference on Tuesday, the Florida representative said the money Americans have to pay at the pump could be going to better use.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 ICYMI \ud83d\udea8<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/housebudgetGOP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@housebudgetGOP<\/a> committee hearing on the impact of President Biden\u2019s American Rescue Plan, I outlined how this disastrous stimulus package has caused record-high inflation, soaring gas prices, and suffering for the American worker.<\/p>\n<p>Watch below \u2b07\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cCYNF8Ju5Z\">pic.twitter.com\/cCYNF8Ju5Z<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Congressman Byron Donalds (@RepDonaldsPress) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepDonaldsPress\/status\/1537081207095185411?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While families struggle to pay for gas and put food on the table, consumer prices have increased significantly as well. US inflation rate increased to 8.6 percent last month, which is the highest in more than 40-years. Americans\u2019 personal finances are becoming considerably tighter.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cYou can\u2019t take that vacation, you can\u2019t go buy that new article of clothing, you can\u2019t go do the next thing that you choose to do,\u201d said Donalds. \u201cThis inflation is the largest tax increase on poor families and middle income families in decades in the United States.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republican lawmaker called out President Biden for comments the President made about currently \u201cchanging people\u2019s lives.\u201d Donalds noted, by \u201cchanging people\u2019s lives\u201d the President means paying nearly $500 more monthly for essential goods and services.
