Some see this win as the end of the #MeToo era.<\/p>\n<p>Part of Depp\u2019s assertions was that Heard\u2019s original claims of abuse significantly hurt his career when he lost his lucrative role in Disney\u2019s \u201cPirates of the Caribbean.\u201d After some details of their relationship and Heard\u2019s lies and manipulation went public, her reputation also suffered.<\/p>\n<p>The movie \u201cAquaman and the Lost Kingdom\u201d is scheduled to be released in 2023, with Heard reprising her role as Mera. She\u2019s not a major character, spurring movie fans to demand her removal from the project.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Film journalist Grace Randolph first shared the news of Heard\u2019s screen time getting cut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hear #AmberHeard has less than 10 min of screentime in #Aquaman2,\u201d Randolph <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GraceRandolph\/status\/1519734319388020736?\">tweeted<\/a>. This news came as the Change.org <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/dc-entertainment-remove-amber-heard-from-aquaman-2\">petition<\/a> to have Heard removed gathered more than 3 million signatures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Also, the actress claimed during her testimony that she was released from her contract. She said she had to \u201cfight\u201d to stay in the film, The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amber-heard-claims-she-was-released-from-aquaman-contract-might-not-appear-in-sequel\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey released me from my contract,\u201d Heard told Depp\u2019s attorney Camille Vasquez. \u201cAnd I fought to stay in it, and they kept me in it. I just don\u2019t know how much I\u2019m in, actually, of the final cut.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if I will even be in the final cut or how much I will be,\u201d the actress added. \u201cIt was difficult to stay in the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Heard asserted that her being cut was an example of discrimination against women speaking up about domestic violence, while Depp\u2019s attorneys pointed out that it could have been because of Heard\u2019s past actions, like physically assaulting Depp, going public.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAquaman\u201d 2 producer Peter Safran said in July 2021 that removing Heard\u2019s character would take more than an online petition created by fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure. You gotta do what\u2019s best for the movie. We felt that if it\u2019s [director] James Wan, and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That\u2019s really what it was,\u201d Safran <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2021\/07\/amber-heard-aquaman-2-johnny-depp-fans-1234802845\/\">told<\/a> Deadline at the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter-verse, but that doesn\u2019t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes,\u201d the producer continued. \u201cYou have to do what\u2019s right for the film, and that\u2019s really where we landed on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But that was before the trial and the revelations about Heard that happened because of it.
