They\u2019re not wanting to stay in Arizona,\u201d Morgan Carr, spokeswoman for Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ), said in a statement to the outlet. \u201cFrom what we\u2019re seeing, they\u2019re all primarily [headed to] the East Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arizona officials confirmed 14 buses carrying 523 migrants since the effort began in mid-May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a problem caused by Washington. We\u2019re bringing it to Washington, and we expect Washington to foot the bill. We\u2019re going to send them a bill,\u201d Ducey spokesman C.J. Karamargin previously told the Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n<p>In Texas, 65 buses carrying more than 2,000 migrants have been sent to the nation\u2019s capital since mid-April, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Once the migrants are dropped off in D.C., local nonprofit groups often help them adjust to life in America.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott first announced plans to bus migrants ahead of the Biden administration\u2019s plans to end <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2022\/04\/27\/key-facts-about-title-42-the-pandemic-policy-that-has-reshaped-immigration-enforcement-at-u-s-mexico-border\/\">Title 42<\/a> in early April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo help local officials \u2013 because communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden Administration \u2013 Texas is providing charter buses for these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off to Washington, D.C.,\u201d the Texas governor <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/06\/texas-gov-greg-abbott-to-send-buses-of-migrants-to-dc-ahead-of-surge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are sending them to the United States capital where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Migrants from Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua were included on the first bus from Texas that arrived just blocks from the U.S. Capitol in mid-April.<\/p>\n<p class=\"t-copy t-links-underlined t-align-left\">\u201cBy busing migrants to Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately meet the needs of the people they are allowing to cross our border,\u201d Abbott said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/04\/13\/migrants-bus-texas-washington-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> regarding the operation, per the Texas Tribune. \u201cTexas should not have to bear the burden of the Biden Administration\u2019s failure to secure our border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Governor Abbott said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0YcSE9IibhM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news conference<\/a> that his state could send thousands more migrants to Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re up to our 45th\u00a0bus now; when you add a zero to that I think that Washington D.C. is going to soon find out they\u2019re going to be dealing with the same consequences we\u2019re dealing with,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing we know for a fact is that there are maybe as many as 100,000 migrants who are across the border waiting to cross into Texas,\u201d Abbott noted earlier in the press conference. \u201cThe Biden administration seems to be letting in people whether they\u2019re crossing through the port of entry or across the river.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There were 201,800 encounters by U.S. Border Patrol agents along the southwest land border in April, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/national-media-release\/cbp-releases-april-2022-monthly-operational-update?language_content_entity=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> U.S. Customs and Border Protection. May numbers were expected to surge even higher with the Biden administration\u2019s plans to end enforcement of Title 42.
