Zoe Lofgren told CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper that the conservative organization paid <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/24\/kimberly-guilfoyle-donald-trump-election-2024-cpac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guilfoyle<\/a> for a two-and-a-half minute speech, CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/14\/politics\/turning-point-group-paid-kimberly-guilfoyle\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. She said the Jan. 6 Committee has evidence that the Trump family used donation funds for their personal gain though donors believed the money went toward legally combating alleged voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that Guilfoyle was paid for the introduction she gave at the speech,\u201d she told Tapper Monday. \u201cI mean, on January 6, she received compensation for that. I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s a crime, but I think it\u2019s a grift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House Select Committee pointed to $250 million reportedly raised in donations by the Save America PAC and Trump campaign during Monday\u2019s hearing, CNN reported. The money had been donated by supporters of the former president to go toward court hearings on election fraud claims, fundraising emails showed. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/14\/january-6-committee-postpones-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: January 6 Committee Postpones Its Upcoming Hearing)<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Democratic Mississippi <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/bennie-thompson-invokes-kkk-slavery-lynching-january-6-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rep. Bennie Thompson<\/a>, the committee chairman, clarified to CNN that the money paid to Guilfoyle came from expenditures from people who attended the rally. The public, including Trump supporters, were unaware of the payments at the time, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, we think the majority of the public would be concerned that if the girlfriend of Donald Trump [Jr.] made $60,000 for a few minutes speech, that they had no idea. She had to get paid to speak at something everybody else was coming to because they thought it was the right thing to do,\u201d Thompson said, according to CNN.<\/p>\n<p>A portion of donation money went to sectors of the Save America PAC, including $5 million toward Event Strategies Inc., former chief of staff <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/14\/house-votes-hold-mark-meadows-criminal-contempt-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Meadows<\/a>\u2018 charitable foundation, the America First Policy Institute and the Trump Hotel Collection, Deadline <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/06\/kimberly-guilfoyle-donald-trump-january-6th-1235044680\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Guilfoyle met with the committee as a key witness in April as she was present at the rally with Trump preceding the riot, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/13\/politics\/kimberly-guilfoyle-paid-60000-speaking-fee-ellipse-january-6\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to CNN.
