Wade<\/em> will empower pro-life states to \u201csubpoena a woman\u2019s personal data.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris, a strong abortion advocate of many years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/06\/14\/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-before-roundtable-to-discuss-roe-v-wade\/\">discussed<\/a> the impending decision of <em>Dobbs vs. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, a ruling that will likely overturn <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, during a roundtable on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Should the court overturn <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, the power to decide abortion laws will head back to the states, many of which have already enacted pro-life legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne is the issue of data privacy and the potential that if <em>Roe<\/em> is overturned, that states that have criminalized abortion could subpoena a woman\u2019s personal data,\u201d Harris said, before suggesting that women who use period-tracker apps may become subject to investigations.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">At its core, Roe v. Wade recognizes the fundamental right to privacy. <\/p>\n<p>When the right to privacy is attacked, anyone in our country may face a future where the government can interfere in their personal decisions. <\/p>\n<p>Not just women. Anyone.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KamalaHarris\/status\/1521972966392803333?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to talk to these experts about their concern and the level of their concern about that very issue, including, for example, the vulnerability of women who are using menstrual tracking apps,\u201d she continued, \u201cthose who use a search engine to find certain locations or certain help, in terms of their reproductive health, and how vulnerable those searches will be to bad actors attempting to track their history, much less any government forces that may be interested in investigating that for whatever purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The vice president also brought up\u00a0in vitro fertilization (IVF), saying that she is concerned that overturning <em>Roe<\/em> will empower pro-life states to \u201cpotentially restrict IVF if their definition of life begins at the point of fertilization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If the court overturns Roe v.
