Currently, only Chief Justice John Roberts receives around-the-clock protection. The six Republican-appointed justices have been extensively harassed by left-wing demonstrators in the aftermath of a leaked draft showing that the Court is prepared to overturn Roe v. Wade, with Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh even targeted for assassination.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-seven Democrats, including three out of four members of \u201cThe Squad,\u201d voted against the legislation. They <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/supreme-court-security-bill-house-vote-brett-kavanaugh\/\">wanted<\/a> the legislation to expand police protection to Supreme Court clerks. Republicans objected to including clerks, citing <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/31\/supreme-court-seizes-clerk-phone-records-leak-investigation\/\">rumors<\/a> that a left-wing clerk leaked the legislation to pressure conservatives.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The SCOTUS security bill has passed the House 396-27.<\/p>\n<p>All nos were Democrats. Associate Justice Samuel Alito was reportedly forced to cancel a conference appearance due to security concerns, and frequent protests have angered the neighbors of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/13\/amy-coney-barrett-neighbor-words-left-wingers-protesting\/\">Amy Coney Barrett<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/we-will-fight-back-protesters-justice-alitos-house\/\">Alito<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/11\/gov-youngkin-requests-extra-local-police-to-protect-supreme-court-justices-homes\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Gov. Youngkin Requests Extra Local Police To Protect Supreme Court Justices\u2019 Homes)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A would-be assassin appeared outside Kavanaugh\u2019s home early the morning of June 8, but grew cold feet after seeing local police officers stationed outside the house. The man, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/fbi-nicholas-roske-home-attempted-murder-supreme-court-justice-kavanaugh\/\">carried<\/a> a gun, pepper spray, and burglary tools, later told police that he traveled from California to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/protesters-brett-kavanaugh-home-attempted-murder-supreme-court-roe-v-wade\/\">kill<\/a> Kavanaugh over the abortion ruling and another case involving gun control.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AOC\/status\/1535012822467371026\">bragged<\/a> on Instagram about objecting to a unanimous request to pass the bill just one day after Kavanaugh\u2019s would-be assassin was arrested. She ultimately voted against the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wake up this morning and I start to hear murmurs that there is going to be an attempt to pass the Supreme Court Supplemental Protection Bill the day after gun safety legislation for schools and kids and people is stalled,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/aoc-touts-blocking-supreme-court-security-bill-brett-kavanaugh-threat-1714922\">claimed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, so we can pass protections for us and here easily, right? But we can\u2019t pass protections for everyday people? I think not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill will now go to President Joe Biden\u2019s desk.
