He will continue to perform his duties, working in isolation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The news follows the announcement that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has contracted the virus for the second time. \u201cI\u2019ve tested positive for COVID-19. I\u2019ll be following public health guidelines and isolating. I feel okay, but that\u2019s because I got my shots. So, if you haven\u2019t, get vaccinated \u2013 and if you can, get boosted. Let\u2019s protect our healthcare system, each other, and ourselves,\u201d Trudeau tweeted on Monday.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019ve tested positive for COVID-19. Gavin Newsom (D), as well as the leaders of Argentina, Jamaica, Barbados and the Dominican Republic. Chilean President Gabriel Boric met with Trudeau in Ottawa on June 6,\u201d The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/2022\/06\/13\/canada-trudeau-covid-biden-summit-americas\/\">said<\/a>. But the paper added: \u201cWhite House spokesman Kevin Munoz said Biden is not a close contact of Trudeau as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcements came as COVID cases are back up and the World Health Organization (WHO) issued new warnings.<\/p>\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic is \u201cmost certainly not over,\u201d WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned late last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2022\/05\/1118752\">according<\/a> to U.N. News.<\/p>\n<p>The WHO head said, \u201cWe lower our guard at our peril.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, is COVID-19 over? No, it\u2019s most certainly not over. I know that\u2019s not the message you want to hear, and it\u2019s definitely not the message I want to deliver,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ghebreyesus told officials gathered in Geneva for the opening of the WHO\u2019s annual meeting that declining testing and sequencing means \u201cwe are blinding ourselves to the evolution of the virus.\u201d In addition, he said that while billions are vaccinated against the virus, nearly one billion people in lower-income countries still are not.<\/p>\n<p>While some 60% of the world\u2019s population is vaccinated, he said, \u201cit\u2019s not over anywhere until it\u2019s over everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ghebreyesus mentioned, \u201creported cases are increasing in almost 70 countries in all regions,\u201d the UN reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c \u2026 And this in a world in which testing rates have plummeted,\u201d the WHO head added.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the virus is spreading rapidly in Africa, where the vaccination rate is the lowest worldwide. And he said that while there appears to be ample supply of the vaccine, there is \u201cinsufficient political commitment to roll out vaccines\u201d in some countries, while there remain gaps in \u201coperational or financial capacity\u201d in other nations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn all, we see vaccine hesitancy driven by misinformation and disinformation,\u201d Ghebreyesus said. \u201cThe pandemic will not magically disappear. But we can end it. We have the knowledge. We have the tools.
