It\u2019s the type of ideological surrender that they should lose their jobs and leadership positions over.<\/p>\n<p>The bill text is still not available but from what Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy\u2019s Twitter feed and the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JakeSherman\/status\/1536010845917954048\/photo\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official framework indicate<\/a>, the legislation could include sweeping measures such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/tucker-carlson-red-flag-laws-mass-shootings-due-process\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">problematic red flag laws<\/a> that overstep too many constitutional bounds for Republicans to comfortably sacrifice. <\/p>\n<p>Despite concerns that the legislation could compromise Americans\u2019 Second, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DLoesch\/status\/1536725515054288897?s=20&#038;t=3n3Fspkmw9WZe52Br1DPOg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fifth<\/a>, and Fourteenth\u00a0Amendment rights, McConnell and <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/3520783-here-are-the-10-senate-republicans-who-are-backing-the-bipartisan-gun-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">10 of his squishiest GOP colleagues<\/a> including Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Rob Portman of Ohio, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Mitt Romney of Utah, Bill Cassidy of Lousiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania plan to join the Democrats\u2019 anti-gun escapades. Together, they caved to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ctmirror.org\/2022\/05\/24\/uvalde-school-shooting-is-another-sandy-hook-sen-chris-murphy-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">emotional blackmail<\/a> wielded by Murphy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/chris-murphy-senate-speech-sandy-hook-texas-elementary-school-mass-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">amplified by the corporate media<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans have no good reason to trust Democrats to skilfully create legislation that is mindful of Americans\u2019 rights. Nor do GOPers have reasons to support legislation that yields little evidence of actually deterring criminals from committing crimes that are already illegal. <\/p>\n<p>After all, the leftist legislators supporting the gun deal are the same politicians who\u00a0supported spying on a president, falsely accused a Supreme Court nominee-turned-justice of rape, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/garland-house-school-board-bannon\/2021\/10\/21\/caeb9704-3274-11ec-9241-aad8e48f01ff_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defended the Biden administration<\/a> when it sicced the feds on parents who wanted a say in what happens in their child\u2019s classrooms, and so much more. <\/p>\n<p>In the past, when Democrats have been given inch-sized opportunities to restrict gun rights, they\u2019ve sought to take miles and ban certain guns and gun parts altogether.  <\/p>\n<p>As my colleague Federalist Senior Editor David Harsanyi <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/13\/there-are-many-potential-problems-with-the-bipartisan-gun-deal\/\">recently noted<\/a>, historically, \u201cDemocrats have not only tried to expand the definition of partner\u201d in domestic violence-motivated gun grabs but have also tried to broaden \u201cthe reasons for losing your gun rights to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/04\/01\/us\/politics\/nra-domestic-violence-congress.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">include<\/a>\u00a0many types of non-violent misdemeanors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet, some of the most powerful GOPers in Congress, even those who have sworn to protect the Second Amendment, are salivating to sign dangerously broad and likely deliberately unspecific legislation crafted by these same Democrats. <\/p>\n<p>Congressional Democrats like Murphy and their allies in corporate media have already admitted that the gun deal includes <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisMurphyCT\/status\/1536313579066081286\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cconsiderably more than [Democrats] hoped for initially.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"947\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-10.36.34-AM-947x1024-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-274011\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-10.36.34-AM-947x1024-1.png 947w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-10.36.34-AM-277x300-1.png 277w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-10.36.34-AM-768x831-1.png 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-10.36.34-AM.png 1202w\"><\/figure>\n<p>That\u2019s because the Republicans involved in negotiations pressured for nothing, so they got nothing.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s gun restriction lead negotiator Cornyn likes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cornyn.senate.gov\/content\/issues\/right-keep-and-bear-arms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brag<\/a> about his A+ rating from the National Rifle Association but the Republican\u2019s former promises not to restrict Americans\u2019 rights to guns have been repeatedly broken and will be violated if this new bill passes. Even Cornyn\u2019s meaningless boasting about <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnCornyn\/status\/1536450216722944005\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">everything excluded from the Democrats\u2019 bill<\/a> signals there\u2019s nothing that <em>was<\/em> included that he found worthy of praising. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"876\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-1.01.37-PM-1024x876-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-274027\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-1.01.37-PM-1024x876-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-1.01.37-PM-300x257-1.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-1.01.37-PM-768x657-1.png 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Screen-Shot-2022-06-14-at-1.01.37-PM.png 1194w\"><\/figure>\n<p>So not only have Republicans signed onto more gun restrictions but they\u2019ve also ceded constitutional ground to Democrats who have a history of abusing their self-assigned power to gatekeep who can access a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>Yielding power to Democrats like Murphy who exploited the Texas tragedy to orchestrate a gun grab is nothing for <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/senate\/3520521-mcconnell-touts-support-of-bipartisan-product-after-senate-gun-proposal-announced\/\">McConnell or any Republicans to be proud of<\/a>. As a matter of fact, that\u2019s something worth forcing them out of office over. <\/p>\n<p>The people most at risk of losing in this \u201cbipartisan\u201d deal are Republicans who will never get the benefit of a winning compromise with Democrats and law-abiding citizens who under the Consitution have every right to own and use guns. Most congressional Republicans have sworn to protect these rights but right now, 10 of the ones closest to McConnell are not. <\/p>\n<p>These Republicans were chosen carefully because most of them are not at risk of getting voted out of office soon, but the dozens of other Senate GOPers who see the problems with handing over control of Americans\u2019 rights should do everything they can to bar them from leadership.
