They are desperate to change the narrative of a failing nation, without even making mention of the havoc and death caused by the Radical Left just months earlier,&#8221; Trump wrote. &#8220;Make no mistake, they control the government. They own this disaster. They are hoping that these hearings will somehow alter their failing prospects.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>In his rebuttal, Trump repeated claims that the 2020 election was stolen, citing a &#8220;ballot trafficking scheme&#8221; he said was orchestrated by <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democrats\">Democrats<\/a>. In one section, titled &#8220;Ballot Trafficking,&#8221; Trump cited Dinesh D&#8217;Souza&#8217;s documentary <i>2000 Mules<\/i>, which he claims provides &#8220;video evidence&#8221; of the scheme. <\/p>\n<p>Former Attorney General <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/william-barr\">William Barr<\/a> laughed off the same documentary in testimony to the Jan. 6 committee aired Monday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy opinion then and now is that the election was not stolen by fraud. And I haven\u2019t seen anything since the election that changes my mind on that,\u201d Barr said, &#8220;including the <i>2000 Mules<\/i> movie.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is merely an attempt to stop a man that is leading in every poll, against both Republicans and Democrats by wide margins, from running again for the Presidency,&#8221; Trump wrote. &#8220;The Democrats know that I would correct all of this, and they are doing everything in their power to stop me \u2014 but we can\u2019t be stopped. We have to Save America.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The Jan. 6 committee, which has two Republican members in Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), is weighing whether to issue criminal referrals to the Justice Department involving Trump and others.
