We were energy independent for the first time in my life. When he came into office he had sweeping executive orders to try to kneecap American energy production.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/02\/fox-news-contributor-says-bidens-full-scale-attack-on-energy-enabled-putin-invasion\/\">(RELATED: Fox News Contributor Says Biden\u2019s \u2018Full Scale Attack\u2019 On Energy Enabled Putin Invasion)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/12\/joe-biden-administration-oil-gas-lease-sales\/\">halted<\/a> offshore lease sales last month and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/20\/keystone-xl-pipeline-scrapped-again\/\">revoked<\/a> the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline in January 2021. Many experts <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/24\/fossil-fuel-industry-oil-gas-production-russia-ukraine\/\">believe<\/a> that efforts by the Biden administration to disincentivize oil and gas production are responsible for higher prices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are paying at the pump like never before,\u201d DeSantis said, adding that Biden\u2019s spending bills also created inflationary pressure. \u201cIt\u2019s hammering blue collar people, working people\u2026it impacts everything in the economy\u2026and so you\u2019re seeing that as the number one driver in the inflation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Consumer Price Index went up 8.6% year-over-year in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/10\/consumer-price-index-highest-1981\/\">reported<\/a>. The average price for a gallon of gas climbed over $5 a gallon, <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">according<\/a> to AAA data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernor DeSantis does not support drilling off the coasts of Florida, and even being faced with the need to consider it is a product of President Biden\u2019s policy failures,\u201d Christina Pushaw told The Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cThe answer to increasing domestic energy production \u2013 and, in turn, getting runaway gas prices under control \u2013 is to undo the bad policies enacted by the Biden administration, such as canceling the Keystone Pipeline and freezing federal land-leases for drilling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheDCNF.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
