They see that, and they don\u2019t like that. So they would find something to be able to pitch a fit about, but you know what? I am not going to let them cancel me,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n<p>The governor had been criticized by some Democratic politicians and LGBTQ activists on Sunday for speaking at an event at Chelsea Piers. The protesters opposed his recently-signed Parental Rights in Education law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe spoke, and we were happy to do that. And after all, as the Governor of Florida, me of anyone should be able to speak in front of all these future Florida voters that are moving down to my state. We weren\u2019t going to let that deter us,\u201d DeSantis noted regarding the protesters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a protest outside Chelsea Piers, but honestly, I was a little bit disappointed. The Parental Rights in Education law does not use the word \u201cgay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New York state Democratic Sen. Carolyn Maloney (D- Upper East Side), State Sen. Brad Hoylman (D- Lower Manhattan), Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou (D- Chinatown), and Lt. Gov. contender Ana Mar\u00eda Archila,\u201d the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to protesting DeSantis over the Parental Rights in Education law, some argued that the governor should not be speaking at the event during Pride Month.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea Piers released a statement on Friday noting its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChelseaPiersNYC\/status\/1535303451692900354?s=20&#038;t=tXy-406rbPhc1hMTdMvvqQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opposition<\/a> to the governor\u2019s policies, though it continued to host the event.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis also addressed questions on \u201cFox &#038; Friends\u201d regarding other topics, including whether he plans to run for president in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s cut the small talk. 2022\u2019s coming up, 2024. We know President Trump is considering a run; we know your name is atop that list as well. Where does that all sit in your mind right now?\u201d co-host Pete Hegseth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/lets-cut-the-small-talk-fox-friends-grills-ron-desantis-if-hell-take-on-trump-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a> DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis initially passed on directly answering the question.
