John Cornyn and Democratic Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, to provide around-the-clock security protection the justices and their families following the majority opinion draft leak reportedly set to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legislation <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/09\/senate-police-protection-supreme-court-families\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">passed<\/a> the Senate unanimously May 9.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy called for a House vote on the bill for the third time in one week after the assassination <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/brett-kavanaugh-man-gun-maryland-supreme-court-roe-v-wade-dobbs-v-jackson-womens-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attempt<\/a> on Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut at the same time that you\u2019re protecting the Capitol, you\u2019re holding a bill to deny protection to those justices,\u201d McCarthy said. \u201cIt makes me wonder why. Why if 100 senators approve it, would it hold here for an entire month? Why even after holding it for a month, somebody travels all the way across the country with one thing in mind: to kill a Supreme Court justice, gets arrested. And still, the Speaker of the House will not move that bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">For the 3rd time in a week, I\u2019m calling for a vote for stronger security for Supreme Court Justices\u2014ALL of them. This isn\u2019t partisan. The threat is real. I do not understand why we would risk that,\u201d McCarthy continued. \u201cI do not understand why you\u2019ll make sure the Capitol\u2019s protected right now knowing that something could happen in the Senate this week but something could happen in the Supreme Court this week, you won\u2019t protect those justices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minority Leader criticized <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/pelosi-snaps-reporter-supreme-court-justices-safety-kavanaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pelosi<\/a> for claiming the justices are \u201cprotected\u201d when pressed by a reporter at a Thursday press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can you make that statement in the same week someone is arrested in your neighborhood trying to kill you?\u201d he said. \u201cIt makes no sense. If for some reason, we continue to come to the floor, that you feel some pressure on that bill, but you change it, the country will know why. Because if you change the bill and move it back to the Senate, you\u2019re trying to kill it. You\u2019re trying to delay it. That\u2019s exactly what you\u2019re doing.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/mcconnell-blames-unhinged-rhetoric-attempted-brett-kavanaugh-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: McConnell, Senate Republicans Blame \u2018Unhinged\u2019 Rhetoric For Attempted Attack On Kavanaugh)\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want to ping pong it and delay the process, I think that\u2019s wrong,\u201d he continued. \u201cI think you\u2019re jeopardizing people\u2019s lives. I think you\u2019re jeopardizing the safety of the Supreme Court and I think you\u2019re playing more games than anybody in this country can understand and we do not understand why. There has been no clear answer. Why would you hold the bill for over a month? Why would you hold the bill after somebody has been arrested that traveled across the country to kill a justice? Why would you continue to hold the bill now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said there is \u201cno excuse\u201d to hold the bill and accused Democrats of wanting it to fail.<\/p>\n<p>Nicholas Roske, 26, was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/cnn-analyst-hypocritical-left-lecturing-violence-kavanaugh-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arrested<\/a> and charged with attempted murder Wednesday after he allegedly carried at least one firearm and burglary tools on the street of Kavanaugh\u2019s home in Montgomery County, Maryland, at 1:50 a.m. He reportedly admitted to authorities that he intended to kill the justice.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republican Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tedcruz\/status\/1534568419252649987?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1534568420657750022%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es2_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fdailycaller.com%2F2022%2F06%2F08%2Fmcconnell-blames-unhinged-rhetoric-attempted-brett-kavanaugh-attack%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sen. Ted Cruz<\/a> and other GOP senators <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LeaderMcConnell\/status\/1534552571943211009?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1534552571943211009%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fdailycaller.com%2F2022%2F06%2F08%2Fmcconnell-blames-unhinged-rhetoric-attempted-brett-kavanaugh-attack%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a> on the House to pass the bill in the aftermath of the assassination attempt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHouse Democrats must pass this bill and they need to do it today,\u201d McConnell said. \u201cNo more fiddling around with this, they need to pass it today.
